CT MIDI hose question

You shouldn't have any issue. I have the 36mm Anti static and it fits directly into the Midi hose port with no issue except it doesn't have the angle into the Midi like the original 27mm hose. You shouldn't need any special connectors.

Hello guys - will this 36mm hose fit directly onto a CT MIDI? -
http://www.festool.com.au/epages/tooltechnic.sf/en_AU/?ObjectPath=/Shops/tooltechnic/Products/452881/SubProducts/452881

It comes with a rotating connector and reducing sleeve, will I need any other connectors/reducers?

Thanks for any info,
Lincoln.

Awesome, thanks anthonyz

Just to piggy back on an existing hose question, I've only had my CT for a week and am wondering, does the hose loosen up over time? This thing is unruly and downright disobedient, coiling itself back up like it's a living thing.

Lincoln....just to go one step further,I have the shorter 50mm anti static connected from my Midi (friction attachment fits perfectly) to my Kapex (had to buy a reducing sleeve but it fits beautifully. I bought it just for that. I also have a 36mm Bosch hose I use on my TS (in addition to the 27mm that came with the Midi, the Bosch is MUCH longer though) to my Midi.

Chris, does the 50mm improve collection, on the Kapex, by much? (Over the 36mm hose
)

Ordered a standard 36mm hose and a reducer to fit my tools with a 27mm port. Really interested to see the improvement, particularly on my TS55, planer (HL850), router (OF1400) and Kapex.

Just a note.....  You won't need a reducer  for the D36 hose to fit any of the tools that it will improve DC on. Those tools are designed to accept the D27 or D36 hose directly. D27 goes inside the port , D36 fits outside the port.

Over my 36 absolutely!

I am no expert on this, but increasing the hose diameter will not always give good results.
There is an optimum in hose diameter/dust extractor combination.
Meaning a to big a hose will not suck harder, it can handle bigger stuff that's true

The dust extractor is limited to displace a certain amount of volume of air.
If you stay beneath this maximum it can build up vacuum, if you go beyond this point the suction force will be lower and larger dust particles or chips will be sucked in the hose but there is a possibility they will not make it to the bag and get stuck halfway, clogging the hose.

I have recently experimented a lot with my old CT22 combyning it to a cyclon filter thing.
Also increased the hose diameter and learned a lot about it and about static electricity build up, the shocks you can get from that are unreal!
I have found a pretty neat solution for that problem, but will make a new post about it soon.

mikkla

Ok, thanks Seth, didn't know that. Why do they make a reducer - for non Festools?

If you are getting the Festool funnel shaped reducer here is a thread with pictures and some info ......

      It will reduce a D50 to fit a port or D36 hose.

Yuppers....exactly how I got my 50mm to my Kapex. Slides right into the friction fitting on top of the Midi. Works awesome. It's a shorter hose and I use it only for the Kapex but it does make a difference for me just like upgrading from the 27 to the 36 did.

My 36mm hose turned up, and it really makes a significant difference. Used it to vac up the floor after a days work renovating our laundry, and used the reducer to connect it to my Hilti cordless saw when cutting cement sheet.

Here the pics of my frankenstein CT - dust cyclone set up.
, just moved into a new worskshop, so don't mind the mess....

It has recentley come to my attention that the hoses from Stihl are basically the same but at a much cheaper pricing.
Check the Stihl's website for details, little hard to find the cleaning section but it is there, at least at the Dutch website!

I have experimented with some 50mm hoses from CT to cyclone, that works pretty good.
After experimenting with the Stihl hoses I noticed (at the first run already lol) some serious static build up.
My idea was to try to connect the static build up to the earth lead of the electrical system in my shop, and in this way saving the CT engine from burning and leading the electricy away.

The closest earth lead I could think of was in the CT, so I opened it up and to my surprise there was a free earth connection in the elecetrical connecting part of the CT. Not the best pic....but there is a free connection  on the bottem left where the earth lead is connected besides two black ones.

[attachthumb=3]

I connected an extra earth lead and brought it outside the CT

[attachthumb=2]

Then connected it to my steel drum which I use as container for dust.
I also made earth leads from the hoses to the steel drum, and also from the plastic elbows to the  earth point at the steel drum.
It's looks very frankenstein but works very well, when I have the time I will come up with a more atractive look  [smile]

Bohdan,

The hard piping fittings look great, I will keep this for future reference.
