CT Midi plug problem

The 120 volt receptacle on my vac is acting up. Tools will not reliably power on. I have to wiggle, push, pull and cuss to get the power. The vac is not very old and has been well cared for. When plugged into the socket it still feels kinda loose. This happens with all my tools; saw, Rotax, Domino ..... anybody else have this issue? Know how to fix it?

Thanks

hi chuck
unplug your vac and then use a t15 torxs on a toolie tool or other tool and remove the 4 screws on the plug socket, then pull the plug forward and you can look at the back to see if maybe one of the connectors is loose. push them on snugly. if this does not fix it remove the wires ,remember which goes where, and remove the slot head screw holding the ground strap. the back of the plug should come off and you can see if the elements inside are bent or sprung over. you can bend them open a little and put it all back together and see if this works. sometimes when you put a bent plug into the outlet (from experience) it tweaks the contact inside out of range. it should put light tension on the plug tongs to keep firm contact. if not you get to cuss and wiggle and jiggle the plugs to make them work. its happened to me after I stepped on the plug and didn't straiten the prongs out really good or if the cord gets yanked out from a hard angle. If this still does not rectify the problem call service and they can send you a new outlet. you'll have to pull it to replace it  so at least you got a practice run. If this still doesn't fix it call for warranty .
been there done this ,and its always been a loose contact inside the plug so far.

Thanks Bill,

Thats just the information I was looking for! I'll let you know if that was the fix.

I own two CT midi's, both had the same problem, got 2 new sockets send to me from festool (under warranty.) This solved the problem for a while but now they are both starting to act up again, the socket does not seem to grab the pins on the plug as firmly. I took a socket apart and bent the inside contacts. that seems to solve the problem for now. Maybe time for a better made socket. I guess American plugs offer a little less grip than those fat euro ones.

I am with the same problem,... need to call Festool about it and get it dealt with. Replacing the outlet DIY style was no a `warranty voider`?
