CT-SYS but bigger

The CT-SYS is really cool, and so glad it just stacks and fits with all the other Systainers. I would love it to be bigger (taller) for a bigger motor for better suction, and to have a bigger bag (that bags fill up too quickly).

I think it should be modular in a SYS format. Motor module, dust bin module SYS1 through SYS5, cyclone separator module, and sys cart. Then you buy modules that you want and configure your own extractor or reconfigure it for a specific job.

Actually, Festool makes that. It's called the CT Mini.

That is really cool! I'm less concerned about the hose/cord, and moreso want a bigger motor to match the power/suction of the rest of the Festool Dust Extractors and bigger bags.

The CT Mini is not the same dimensions as Systainers - that's what I'd want. Take a CT Mini or CT Midi, take off the wheels, and make it Systainer dimensions and I'd be super happy. Though I love the idea of a multi-part system; buy a base which would hold a bag, then the middle module is the motor and switches, and a top module for hoses/cords, etc.

But what's the point of a vac without wheels? Or do you want to use your vac only stationary? Because when vacs get bigger, they're not so easy to carry around as a systainer.

Also a Battery module so you can power it off a wall, and pass thru to corded tools, but have the option to disconnect when you need to carry it someplace and do some sucking.

Might add a hose retractor spool module.  Just like air or power cords, it pulls it back in.  Again, a module, so if you don't want, no issues.

I like my 2 CT26's  But I also wish they were straight up systainers.  I can't pack them up with all the other systainers, or stack them, etc.

If it could be fitted with bypass motor cooling like all other dust extractors tend to be, then a variable speed variac/thermistor could e added too.

The biggest failing with the old one in my opinion was the fact that it had to perpetually run flat-out irrespective of which tool type was used.

As it stands, the CTL-Sys is really just a variation of a domestic vacuum cleaner rather than an actual extractor.  With bypass cooling, greater capacity & modular cyclonic separation its usefulness would expand exponentially.

Well, the last generation was.  Sorta, maybe, not really. MINI is the same height as two Sys3 stacked together.  And though not exactly the same height in that Greman precision sort of way, a MINI was close enough in height to stack next to a Sys4+1 or other similar combos to have a relatively flat top with 9 stacks arranged in a 3x3 cube.  That's my go to config. to fit under the parcel cover in the back of my range rover or landcruiser.

The new gen MINI - you're correct, they don't lineup.  But that's with the last gen Systainers.    I suspect it does align with the newest generation of systainers that are currently shipping.  Though I have not verified that.

My initial issue with CT-SYS was that too small hose garage.  Not only did it barely house what it was intended to , It messed with my transport system.    All was solved when I scrapped the sys1 garage for a homebrew Sys2 like discussed here already.  Sys-MFT has never done anything for me, and it makes carrying the vac kinda awkward - so I didn't opt for that.

[member=67935]xedos[/member], hard to say for sure. If so, we will certainly see it in Europe months before we see it in the U.S. market. I have a feeling that the transition to Sys³ is going to be very gradual.

And class M compliant.
I'd  be all over one of those.
I already have a CTM26 which is great on sites where access is nice and flat but throw inna few flights of stairs, scaffolding ladders and mud on the entrance and I try to leave it in my van.
Oh and while we're one with it, make the systainer handles so they don't unclip so easy after theyve worn a bit.

You can add robust, variable suction to CT-SYS for under $12.  Order a Ridgid "hose grip with bleeder valve" from HD.  (I haven't seem them stocked in stores but my online order arrived quickly). Plug your Festool hose into the grip, then plug the grip into your CT sys.  Adjust to desired suction by twisting the red band, opening the port.  Fits perfectly, no fuss.

I agree that bypass cooling/thermistor ctrl would be great as I notice the CT sys valve opening and closing soon after I turn the CT SYS on and start using it- unless the bag has been changed out very recently. 

Thinking about getting a Dustopper (also sold through Home Depot;  basically an inexpensive and reasonably low-profile pre-separator) as a relatively inexpensive fix for this.  I hear it works pretty well for wood sanding dust but not for drywall dust. I'd probably put a weight in the bottom and place it right on top of the CT sys (with hose garage removed). 

Perhaps I should have bought a CT mini or midi to start with. I don't like having to do all these workarounds but having a single compact vacuum has its advantages.
