CT-VA-20 question

Hi, I’m not sure if this has been asked before so apologies if it has, still trying to work my way around the forum.

My question is, does anybody know or has bought recently a CT-VA-20 pre separator and can confirm if the picture on the Festool website is correct in that it shows that the small connecting hose to connect extractor to CT-VA unit now has a straight connector on one end and a 90 degree connector on the other.

As previously this was a 90 degree connector on both ends meaning it couldn’t be used (without retrofitting a new end onto the hose) on any of the new CT Midi models as these require the straight connector coming out of extractor.

Also is there any reasons that it should not be used on the CT Midi models that I should be aware of if indeed it now does come with the straight connection required to do so.

Thanks.

I can't answer as to what models it will work on but I bought my CT26 and the CT-VA-20, both in the last 2 months or so.  In my case the hose connecting the DC to the cyclone has a 90 connector on both ends.

I believe it’s now with one 90° and one straight coupler. See photo.
Also, for CT Mini/Midi (but it fits “all” CT’s) there’s an adaptor hose 36mm that has DC coupling in both ends, with connection sleeve that can be used as well. I have no personal experience using it though. Part no. is 499196

Maybe its timeframe or country related.  I bought mine in the US 2 months ago.  Here is a pic of mine.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve seen a couple of videos online and it does look like it is a timeframe scenario as suggested. So maybe just need to wait for shops opening back up to go and see it in person and hopefully it has what I’m looking for.

Possibly the hose change came with the same update that added the straps to the latch mechanism (which allow to lift the whole thing, instead of pulling the clear bin out of the base) ?

I Europe /Germany/ I can confirm the one 90 degree and one straight are shipped, along with the straps. Valid as of April this year.

Actually, when one looks at air resistance, it would probably be better to have both straight which I am planning to use.

Most likely it depends if you get newer stock or older stock, so best ask the seller if they stock the newer part number of some older one.

Doubt that it matters considering how small that made the tube inside the unit.

Yeah, probably in the 1% range or so. More useful may be a 36, hose along with straight intakes.

I just think that there is no real limitation - the cyclone uses standard 50mm outtake, so one can take two hose ends and add an arbitrary hose to make a different connection that will work also with a Mini etc.

Perfect thanks for that. I’m doing exactly as you say and will wait for shops to re open here in UK so that I can see for myself the one I’m buying.

Cheers
