CT Vac Maintainence

I filled the bag, the hose, filters and saw the other day.  Apparantly composite decking doesn't make saw dust, it is more like confetti.  It fills up fast too.

I haven't been cutting that stuff but I know what you mean.

If you have more to cut try a slower speed and see if it changes the "shavings".

I have yet to create a "brick" bag on my CT 22 because I connect a mini-cyclone (Oneida Dust Deputy) ahead of it, and thus never fill the Festool bag.  (I don't own a power planer.)  I can easily do that because most of my work is in a home shop rather than working on customers' premises as many others have to do.  The can on the Dust Deputy holds 10 gallons and is easily dumped after releasing the single lever-action clamp that secures the cyclone on the top of the collector can.  I have also been successful in emptying a partially filled Festool bag using my other vacuum (Fein Turbo II) to suck the debris into the Dust Deputy.  If you have to move your vacuum machine around a lot while doing your work, then bags are probably the better solution.  But if your able to set up and work without having to move the vacuum as you work, a mini-cyclone might increase the time you have available to actually use your Festools and reduce your expenses for consumable bags.
