The power cord coming out the side of the vac is a little odd. when I use my vac for clean up and am rolling it around I am always having to move the cord out of the way or it gets hung up on it. The back of the vac would be an ideal location.

Also it would be nice to be able to switch the orientation of the systainers that clip on top. The lids always seem to open the wrong way when I place the vac next to the work bench.

Thanks,

I see you're trying hard to avoid being seen as a Festool cheerleader  ;)  ;D

I own a Fein vacuum and have been wondering about getting the Festool vacuum. That's exactly what I need to hear. I never really noticed where the cord exits or how the systainers swings open. I always thought the systainers can be mounted either way.

Neither issue would be a deal breaker but it's nice to know these issues in advance.

Eiji also said this in another thread,

"I have the Fein turbo3 and a CT22 and I would rather have the CT any day. I know the specs state that the Fein has more CFM but it seems that when doing clean up with the 50mm hose the CT has mush more suction than the Fein with the same hose. And the Fein has a brand new filter with no bag. The CT has hepa filters and a bag. More suction and no mess.

The shape of the CT is way more efficient as it is rectangular and the Fein is kind of round or tubular. This makes it easier to store or transport the CT vacs.  The CT vacs also have handy locking casters. I do not particularly like that the power cord comes out the side of the vac instead of at the rear. This makes it harder to manuver while cleaning up since it has a tendancy to roll over the cord or get hung up on it.

Overall I say the CT vacs are far superior.

I saw on some other posts that the poster did not feel that the CT vacs were the best on the market for the price but failed to mention another brand that was better.

I have owned a couple of Feins for several years and have always liked them.  Last year, I decided to get a CT-22.  In addition to the ability to double as a systainer dolly, I love the CT.  Main difference is the variable suction -- for me it is a must for some of the sanders, especially the smaller ones.  Although you can do home-made suction control on the Fein, you need to have it with some of the sanders (especially since the Fein is slightly more powerful than the CTs).  The other feature, much more minor, is the ease of selecting auto/manual -- always have to do it twice with the Fein.

I'm glad I made the switch.

Actually the CT22 / 33 are rated at 134 CFM and the Fein TurboII and TurboIII are rated for 126 CFM which explains why my CT vac feels so much more powerful than my TurboIII.

You can always put a SYS1 below the one you want to open the other way, can't you ?
