CT22 Accessories

Now that I've purchased the CT22 - do I really need to add some accessories?  I can't afford the boom arm right now - but would the handle, hose caddy, or one of the cleaning sets benefit me?  I'd like to know which ones most of you purchase and why - so I can make my decision.  This forum is one of the greatest tools I have in my workshop. 

So far owning - CT22, ETS 150/3, and Domino

i have the ct22.i added the handle,hose caddy,and also have the cleaning set.i like the handle because i can roll the vac like a shopping cart.the hose caddy is great,i also roll the cord and put it in with the hose.the cleaning kit is great.i use it a lot.the boom arm is another thing.it all depend on where you plan to use the vac.if it's going to be in your shop,get it!everybody will tell you the same.but if you plan to take your vac with you to job site,you may have a problem with moving the vac around,or transporting it.i don't think the boom arm come off very easily for transport.I'm sure someone will reply to that issue.i don't have one,but when i do work in my garage,i wish i had one.

I have the ct33 with boom arm. Primarily I use it in the shop. However, it is not a big deal to remove the arm and load it in my VINTAGE 88 Eagle ;D Get it when you can and don't sweat the transportation. You'll love it and if you to take it, you;ll find a way. My 33 came with a few attachments and I haven't bothered with a nicer set. It is nice to have the vac to clean up when finished installing cabinets. I don't use the vac on my jigsaw, and my c12 doesn't have a hose connection.

I have the CT22, hose garage, universal cleaning kit, handle and ....the boom! The boom is one of the best accessories to have. I parked the CT22 in the middle of the kitchen and then used my sanders and TS55 to remodel, with the boom keeping the hose off the floor and out of the way.

The best accessory I've bought for my CT22 (appart from all the tools =) is the heavy duty cleaning set.

This cleaning set is amazingly good at cleaning shop floor with and yet it fits in a box if you need to take it with you. It's pricey, but I think it's worth the bucks.

I have the boom arm on order, so the cleaning set might drop to a second place in the best-of list, who knows..

Oh, and the worst accessory: hoose with built in cable.

I bought the 27mm hoose with the built in cable. I thought it would be nice to get rid of the cable. But it turned out that the cable runs inside of the allready small 27mm hoose. I have had to many stuck chips in this hoose, so I rarely use it anymore.

Nice thing with the cleaning set in my last post is the 36mm hoose. If you use the planer you'll need the 36mm to get rid of the chips as fast as the planer produces them.

And.. buy or build a good hoose holder to put on the wall. You don't want to hang your expensive hooses over a nail as they will break eventually. I use one of these for my hooses:

And.. I use a smaller version for my cables:

And.. buy the green hooses - they are antistatic.

Sine you mentioned the universal cleaning set - do you find the universal cleaning set useful?  That is the one I've been contemplating.  Do you find the 36 non-antistatic hose useful?  It seems to have the necessary attachments for general cleanup.  If not, I guess I could just get the compact cleaning set and use the 27 hose that came with the CT22.

Also, is the handle really needed for the CT22 since it isn't that big?

  Rob, I have the Installer Cleaning Set, I decides to spend the extra money on this set, and I'm glad I did. It has the 36mm AS hose and a nice floor attachment that I find very useful. The 36mm hose makes a big difference for clean up over the 27mm hose. Plus I use the 36mm hose with my OF 14000. As for the handle, it allows you to push the vac like a shopping cart or like a dolly, not  big deal to me, I have it because it's needed for the boomarm.

i like the 36 hose better than the 27 for cleaning.the 27 can get clogged up pretty quick.as for the handle, it makes it very easy to push the vac around.also if you plan to buy the boom arm,you are going to need the handle.

The Universal kit has all I need for "cleaning", and the non static hose is fine for that. I like having all my cleaning tools, including a dedicated hose, in "one box". I like the handle to move/steer the CT22 around to the room we are remodeling....and because I have the boom! Even without the boom, I think I'd get it.

Wanting to scale up to the D36 hose, I purchased the Workshop Cleaning Set along with a few (less expensive) brushes.  This set includes a very nice floor nozzle -- best I've ever had or used -- that maneuvers well even in tight spaces.  Rather than store the tubes separated in the kit's Systainer, I simply store them assembled and ready for use in the holder next to the Boom Arm's vertical tube.

Had I not purchased the tubes and floor nozzle in this set, I would probably not have spent the money on them as individual parts.  But, that would have been a shame as these accessories really complete the Festool experience, in you will.

And the larger D36 hose is an improvement -- worked wonders for cutting MDF.

IKEA has hose holders like this for 2 or 3 USD.  Both D36 and D27 hoses fit, and there's a holder for the extension tubes.
