CT26 and drywall dust

I was looking at a CT 26 other day.  These are very nice and I'm considering selling my CT22 to get one.  One thing I was curious about though was how the new bag material in the CT26 handles drywall dust.  Does anyone have any experience using the CT26 for drywall sanding?  Does the bag do a good job of containing the dust?

Kodi,

I don't have one, but my understanding is that the filtration of the new units and their bags is equal to the older models.  Coupled with the fact that the bags deflate when the unit is turned off and self-cleaning to a degree, I would imagine that the performance might be even better.

I use my ETS125 when I sand drywall patches, it works very well hooked to my CT22. I have sanded an entire room (14 sheets) and this setup worked well in that application also. The only issue was I had to stop periodically, open the unit and depress the bag to loosen the "cake", then very carefully close the lid. You do not want the water sensors piercing the bag.

I will be getting a new CT soon, just for the self cleaning bags. I will not be selling my 22. It will be nice not to have to move the vac from one area to anther while working.

Hi Kodi,  we have been using the 26 with the new bags for drywall work, and the bags and the vac have performed wonderfully.  We had problems with  the old bags and drywall dust, but now we are sold on the new design.

I don't have an exact count, but my men have finished and sanded about 100 sheets of drywall and have done a lot of plaster repairs, all without any problems with the bags blowing out or any other issues.

I am using my CT 36 on a remodel job. I have sucked up a lot of drywall dust & I sanded an area of thinset mortar.
This is the first large job I have used it on, so I have opened up the vac several times to check the bag.
No problems so far & I have not noticed the suction drop off as I did with the paper bags.

What sand paper are you using to do the drywall sanding?

Thanks,

I've used Brilliant 180 and 220 with good success in my RO125 for drywall.  I'd add that the Dust Deputy in the vacuum line drops much of the fine drywall dust into the bucket, making bags last even longer in my CT22.

I've done exactly the same thing, but with my RO150. The DD makes a huge difference in the junk that makes it to the bags. My only complaint was that the RO150 was a bit unwieldy on the upside down bits  [embarassed]
