Disclaimer: Festool does warn you not to proceed with the installation unless you are a qualified electrician (which I happen to be). You might want to have it installed by your local Festool repair shop.

Just added the second power outlet to mine and thought I might as well document the super simple installation here for reference:

[attachimg=#]
Unscrew the cover plate from your extractor using a 5mm hex key or a toolie in my case [wink]

[attachimg=#]
The secondary socket looks like this

[attachimg=#]
And has an idiot proof quick connector at the back

[attachimg=#]
Push gently in place and screw it back in. Done.

The only thing to notice when ordering the 2nd outlet part is that there seems to be two options:

One has continuous current without extractor on-off control 496142 (EU mainland socket) and the other one has extractor control 496405 (EU mainland socket).

And oddly enough there does not seem to be a UK or US version of this add-on socket at all @ Festool UK/US sites?

When I got my ctl26 four years ago I ordered both versions of the outlet. I usually have the non auto version installed, so I can use the vac as an extentioncord without it starting up. The hex wrench supplied with the ts55 for changing the blade is also the right size for the bolts.

As for there being a  UK version, and not a US version: they don't make it in a 110V version.

It's a good thing you're a licensed electrician. That install looked like it really tested your knowledge.  [big grin]

  LOL, he was on the ropes for a bit, but carefully got through it OK...... [wink]

That linkhttp://www.powertool-supplies.co.uk...-module-modul-sd-e-a-ct-26-36-48-gb-240v.html may say 'GB' in the title but the part number is the one described by the OP and, despite the warning to check the correct part number, that item number does not appear on the festool.co.uk website.

I have to say that the product info on both the N&B and festool-uk websites is very poor for nearly all products.  Fine if you know the part you want, but not very informative if you don't.

There are UK versions, but no US versions (presumably due to UL approval restrictions). No idea why the UK modules aren't showing on the website, but I can't find them either.

Here you go. http://www.powertool-supplies.co.uk/festool-electrical-outlet-module-modul-sd-e-a-ct-26-36-48-gb-240v.html

You say it like it is a bad thing?
I could see a US and UK being a handy thing.
Do they do an Eu one?

Then I could have 230 Au and 230v Eu on the vac [big grin]

As I said above, that says 'GB' but the part No is the EU version.  The part number for the UK version is (was?) 496736 from an old bookmark of mine.  Can't seem to find it in many places - lots of links go to non-existent pages.  This one may have it but does say it is a discontinued item so get in quick.

I bought my extra socket from Warren [member=6862]Toolfest[/member] and I am sure that he will be able to give the right detail.

Mine works perfectly and was just as easy to install as the OP indicated.

In all of the Festool UK brochures and even the current 2016 catalogue, the part number is listed as 496405.

Perhaps Warren can confirm with Festool?

I have the 496142 and I can assure you that at least that one is a UK socket.

Just to clear this up, I have just received my power outlet from Nuts&Bolts aka powertool-supplies.  The part number 496405 is standard for EU but the socket has to be changed by the supplier for the local style.

The OP hasn't logged into the forum since 2021. You may be waiting a while for your answer from him.

Excuse my ignorance. For an additional outlet from the CT, can't we just plug in an outlet tap adapter, something like these?
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commerc...y-Grounded-Triple-Tap-Adapter-LA-26/306625657https://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-15-Amp-Grounded-T-shaped-Outlet-Tap-Adapter-Orange-50281/203716851

I use one for my CT15.

For the larger CTs that have the expansion port, there were two versions of the outlet: one that controlled the auto on/off, and one that was continuous voltage without auto on/off.

If you just needed the auto on/off, a triple tap would definitely be easier and cheaper, but if you wanted to just have a power tap and not have it affect the auto on/off, the other module would be an option.

It would also prevent you from using the Bluetooth module, which immediately limits its usefulness for me; I use the Bluetooth way too much to give it up.

Thx for the explanation. So the tap adapter may work for some but not others. I'm unfamiliar with the CT26 BT, and how or why the addition of a tool would disable its use.

But I wonder somehow if there might be a way to cheat the system and make it work with the much simpler solution of a tap adapter, in the same spirit of how we add BT to the CT15 using a remote switch. For example, could we turn off the tap outlet when we want to use the BT on the CT26?https://primewirecable.com/products/pbfstap4-outlet-white-indoor-power-tap-w-remote-switch (One regular tap outlet is used in conjunction with this tap with remote switch (or with a power bar with a switch control).)
