I had a midi (version 1), recently bought a ct36. I was surprised to see that the power cable was thicker on my midi 12AWG vs the ct36 which is 14AWG. So was wondering if there was a limit on the power draw the unit can handle, and looks like its identical. Here are some pictures. Logically i would expect the 12AWG power cable to be used on the CT36. Anyways just wanted to share this observation and ask for your thoughts. Clearly there is compromise in the quality of the newer tools.

14AWG is good for 15A, which matches the plugs on the machine.  It's just fine.  12AWG was over kill, unless it has a 20Amp plug on it.  They probably realized they over sized the old one and made a change.  Temp rating on the insulation will be a bigger factor, the older cord may have had a lower temp rating than the new one.

Temparature rating is 105° for both cables. 12AWG (the one on the midi) is significantly thicker and easier to bend.
Wanted to share as it was interesting to notice the difference.
