Ct36ac package question

If I purchase a package with the ro125 sander and the ct36ac vacuum will I still need to buy the smaller hose separately to have them work together? It seems like from what I've read the ac comes with a larger hose, but it seems odd to offer a package that won't work together out of the box. Has anybody purchased this package?

I just bought a CT36 and an RO90 as a package deal. It came with a 27mm hose. I believe this is standard. I bought a 36mm hose, in addition to the 27mm that came with the vac, so I could maximize extraction when using the Kapex. If within 30days, see if your deal will assist you in getting the correct hose. If not, a Festool rep. may be able to assist.

I think the difference is he is looking at the Auto Clean version vs. a standard CT36.  The CT36AC is for the Planex I believe, not that you can't use on everything else.  Soit makes sense that it would have a 36mm hose.

Yes the AC 36 hose needs a small adapter to work with tools requiring 27mm connection.
It comes with a special 36mm hose that has a special adapter that will work fine with most any Festool. Cant remember which one but there is one where it will not work with...not a deal breaker you can always a standard adapter for the AC hose.  The AC hose is more flexible than the standard which I find to be a benefit.

The CT 36 AC comes with a 36mm hose that has a special tool end with protrusions that the Planex can grip to ensure that the hose won't fall off. It won't work with the sanders, MFK, OF 1010, or anything else that requires a 27mm hose end.

I make and sell an whip end adapter. It's a 2' length of 27mm hose with two tool ends. It just plugs into the 36mm tool end.

Nice solution. I might have to pick that up for myself.

Thanks for the responses. Seems frustrating that the description in the dealer lists the hose as a 1 inch, as well as saying it comes with a hepa filter. I was under the assumption that the AC did not come with a hepa filter either.

It doesn't come with a HEPA filter and you don't want one in it if using the autoclean function.

Have you contacted the dealer to ask if that information is correct? Maybe they put together their own kit.

It's almost guaranteed to be an error on CPO's website. The CT 36 AC does not come with a HEPA filter, it comes with a 1 micron filter.

Now reading this post. I ordered this package and it didn't come with the 27mm hose. Called CPO a week ago about the missing hose and they're saying that it has to be approved and sent from Festool. Called Festool and they're saying that they don't sell such a package and I have to call CPO. These are my first Festool units and this doesn't bode well.  Seems like I'm getting the runaround after making the purchase so I have a sander and a vac that can't be used together. [mad]

I'll send a pm and see if this bait and switch can be resolved

As was mentioned earlier in this thread there are two different vacs, one is the standard CT36 vac and the other is the CT36 AC (auto clean) vac.  BTW, the hose is shipped inside the vac.

-The standard CT36 comes with the 27mm hose.
-The CT36 AC (auto clean) comes with the black 36mm hose.

The CPO page for this package clearly states that it includes "1 in. x 11.5 ft. AntiStatic Suction Hose".  Why would they sell a RO 125 and a CT36 AC as a package, state that it includes the 27mm hose then not include it?

Because they have made a mistake by saying it was included. Even more, they have made a mistake in the first place putting this combo out as a package, because Festool themselves didn't.

Festool does sell vac & tool packages, but they are smart enough to know you don't combine the CT36AC with a Rotex 125. Apparently this dealer does not know this.

Apparently they also don't know how to read their own product prescriptions. It clearly says it comes with the 27mm anti static hose. So it is their responsability to get that hose to you. By shoving this off to Festool they probably want Festool to eat the cost of their own mistake.

Why ? I thought using the ac function only instead of a self clean bag gives superior suction and ensures the fine dust doesnt clog the bag thus shortening the life of the machine?

If the machine has a warranty and overload protection, then it should be fine.

I know this isn't directly related but here goes.  Seems people assume because the Auto Clean vac costs more that it is somehow better for general (woodworking) use.  The auto clean vac is intended for the Planex or other tasks that produce very fine dust like cutting/grinding stone or cementitious products.  If you don't regularly use the Planex and/or cut/grind stone or cementitious products, you don't need the auto clean vac.  I say skip the AC vac and use the savings to buy something you really need.
