Will someone please post the parts diagram for the CT36 AC ? I think mine is missing the seal between the lower motor housing and the plenum to the filter. I want to make sure there should be a seal there before I call the service department. A picture will help me not sound like a babbleing idiot.

I have tried to access the ekat from 2 different computers and it tells me I have timed out.

I can't believe the ekat is not accessible from an iPad, am I missing something?

Tom

Tom,

The Ekat and an iPad do not play together.  Time out issues are the same for me.  Why don't you try the Festool UK site and their ekat on a non-iPad?

Here's a screen shot, no time out issues here but I'm using a PC, not an iPad. The filter itself creates the seal and has an integrated gasket. When you actuate the lever, it should depress the filter against the housing tightly.

Thanks Shane.

Your screen shot confirmed my suppositions. Part of the gasket (the part on the left of item #46) is missing. There was a constant cloud of dust coming from the side vents. When the self clean activated it created a solar eclipse in the room.

This week was the first time I've used the Planex for a large amount of drywall sanding. Most of its work has been sanding faux painting to flatten walls for repaint, or as a dust extractor for my other tools. Until now I've had the fleece bag in the tub.

After a smoke test, I  pulled the motor cover and found the housing and the motor vent filters caked with drywall dust. The motor turbine is covered with caked dust. So between the smoke test and pulling the filter and finding the plenum clean of dust, my guess was a gasket was missing from exactly where the diagram shows one should be.

Shane, when you're back to work, (your email states your off until the 2nd?) let me know how to get this back for warranty service.

Most of you have probably figured out I'm a what, how and why type of person. So I have a why question that I can't figure out with the AC.

On the open top liners there are taped off areas that are of a different material. The instructions (yes I read the manual) state that those areas must be inside the tub. Why are they there, why must they be in the tub, what is their purpose?

If the answer has to come from an engineer and is in German, I'm pretty sure someone here will translate it.

Peter,

Thanks for the tip on the U.K. Ekat. It works well on both my MBP and a Windows desk top.

Shane,

I got the CT back today along with the parts for the Kapex. Thank you very much for assisting in this matter, I greatly appreciate it. I can tell by looking (without any disassembly) the seal is now in place. With the new motor, it sounds and acts as well as the day I got it.

Thanks again.

Tom
