I had finished up a job and it was time to check / change vac bags, empty the cyclone, etc. I had been using a CT48 for the first time for a couple of months. I kept checking to see how full it was expecting to change the bag each time. Nope, not yet. So I just kept filling it to see how far it would go.

This thing is packed hard. The only space left is that shallow depression under my hand. It's so tight I couldn't get enough space to pull the bag off the nozzle and shut the gate. I ended up using the 4" DC hose to suck some out to make room!

The vac container was almost spotless. I didn't clean it before this picture. No visible dust on the main filters either.

These two are for scale. That is a Systainer five. I weighed the bag. It came in at 30 pounds. Mostly TS55 dust. Some sanding. Very little router or floor cleaning.

The CT 48 replaced a CT33. The 33 is now powering a CT-VA-20 cyclone. Which by the way works just fine. Personally I think it is a waaaaay better form factor with no fuss hook up, and easy emptying compared to the other brands of small cyclones.  Pics of the dust bin 3/4 full. Mostly router , and pocket hole dust.

[member=1619]SRSemenza[/member] Seth you’re a better man than me!!! I might not have been able to get it out of the dust collector.  [eek]

Yeah with that kind of dust you can get it very full without losing much suction power. It's a PITA though if it fill up the hose as well...

With the CT-VA-20 in use I wouldn't go bigger than a 26, bigger never giving it's extra price back in bag savings.

I must say the new Midi with the filterclean function... that actually works really well!

I filled the hose once ..................  don't ever want to do that again.  [mad]

Well I would say the CT26 holds about the same in actual fill percentage as the CT33.  In my case, cost wise , I already have the CT33.  I could swap the CT33 with the Midi (older style) which is on the Kapex. But the form factor, mostly hose connection points work better in both set ups as is.

In the picture the Kreg jig is connected, but the hose hanging between the vac and cyclone can just be swapped. That hose runs to another work station where I do a lot of router work. I put the cyclone on a roll board for easy access. The CT33 can be rolled out for access or extended use as a straight vac. The units are under the miter saw station bench.

Seth, I love the CT-VA 20 on the Roll Board!  Double points because it's the old school board that takes up the least amount of space of all three versions of the Roll Board.  [big grin]

Yes, it is the smallest so it fit better in that spot. But also it is a pain to fiddle with the rubber connectors to attach Systainers frequently. So since this won't need to be removed it was a good place to use the oldest.  You can see the newer (not newest) roll board just to the left in the same picture. Even thought it has a bigger foot print it is waaay easier to connect and disconnect Systainers. It is also a bit more stable on uneven ground and rolls better on surfaces such as pavers and thresh holds. I bought the newer ones for my site work stuff for those reasons. Relegating the old style for other uses.

Good point on the wheel size.  The 2nd generation (pre-Sys3) is definitely my favorite out of all of them.  The Sys3 SYS-RB rolls just as nicely, but the base is massive.  I'd almost rather have Sys-Roll carts than the Sys-RB but they're twice as expensive, and going up even higher next year.

If you want the 2nd version of the roller board... Makita still sells them, exactly the same thing made by Tanos. And in a color that makes dirt less visible.

The oldest version has smaller wheels if I remember right. But 2nd version is not that much bigger!? Yes, projected area, but not so much on smallest square.
