I have the 2022 paper catalog and in it, I see the battery powered vacuums, but i cannot find them online. When can we expect them and what will they cost? Naturally, I want one. Has anybody seen them? They are not even on the Festool site yet.

If only they could come up with a hoseless dust extractor.  ;) I would be all over that!

Is there really that much demand for a cordless D.E. ? Would mainly be for cordless tools I guess. It won't power corded tools as far as I can see. Does it have the option to be mains powered also? That would make it much more useful. Just trying to understand the why.

I believe the last time this came up in discussion, it was about use on job sites that have no power available, especially compared to running a generator outdoors and drop-cords into the house to make a corded extractor function.  Paired with a cordless drill or tracksaw, especially with bluetooth, it's a great option for that situation, or even for a quick in-and-out job.

And no, there is no mains power on the cordless MIDI, MINI, or CT-SYS.

Hi squall_line, I guess I'm just surprised that there would be enough demand for Festool to make cordless extractors. Those have to be expensive vac's with batteries and chargers. You would really have to have a need for one to justify the cost. I'm in the US and build custom homes and have never worked on a site with no power. Maybe it's more common in other parts of the world to not have power on job sites. That would make more sense.

I have the CLT MIDI, and will add the battery powered version to my collection. I see the benefit. It uses the same batteries that I already have and I do not have to ask for an outlet anymore. I have had to get an extension cord from the neighbors, or dig around function boxes. I use battery operated tools as much as possible and have needed to find mains power just for my vacuum. And I still have the corded option (hooked up to my stationary CNC) , if i want to Rotex for hours on end. So for me it is a welcome option. The basic version is cheaper that the corded version. I already have batteries and chargers.

The CTLC Mini/Midi’s are tempting. They seem to have very good spec’s.
A battery powered CTC SYS is ok, but it’s not on wheels and has some limitations such as a much smaller bag, no blower function on the battery version.
To have a fully fledged CT, but cordless and the ability to hold larger amp battery’s makes it very interesting.
Maybe the runtime will be similar between those, CTLC being more powerful and draining power equal to CTC SYS?

Correct, which is why they're coming out in Europe first, and may never actually make it to this side of the pond.  I'd honestly be very surprised to see them in North America before 2023.

Festool is one of the few companies without a cordless vac of one sort or another, better late than never, I suppose. I’ve had a cordless DeWalt for several years. Mine is used less in the workshop than for general household stuff, but recently I found that it pairs nicely with my Bosch cordless saw.

The vac itself in 18 or 36V is probably cheaper to make. Costs is in batteries if you want the serious runtime

For the record, I am now firmly committed to a CTLC Mini. Possibly not this yearm but will get it sooner than later.

And the primary use will be ... tadaa: Home vaccuum.  [smile]

The 30 or so minutes of runtime at full power should be more than adequate for home use. With the EU forbidding any home vacs above 700 watts, I expect it to be more powerfull than a corded home vac, equivalent at worst.

I could see one making sense even in a shop setting as the "shop cleanup" vac which is carted all around a (bigger) shop so cordless is a boon. When you have people all around catching your cords or extentions ... it actualy becomes a safety thing too. Our shop is about 10x10 meters and it is a reall pain to mess around with the extension cord when you need to do cleanup after work.
