Just picked up a few more T-Locs this week to get some loose tools organized, and I noticed something interesting...
The new T-Locs (at least from Festool) now come with a plastic ID card insert, identifying it with it's part number:

I don't know if the systainers with tools are coming like that too, as I haven't gotten anything new in awhile... :-(
However, it got me thinking. Since the original T-Loc approach with a clear plastic window over a biz card just doesn't work too well (the inserts don't stay straight).
So I started looking into having these things printed. Indeed you can have them printed by online services, but the minimum order is 250 count, obviously I only need one per customized tool box.
So then I decided to see if I can print them myself. Sure enough, certain inkjet printers can be used (along with special *inkjet* PVC cards) and a special insert tray to print on the cards.
Here is a link to one such product for the Epson A50. On the bottom of the page is a link to their learning center for ID cards.
Brainstorm PVC card printing
For now, I don't have the right kind of printer but next time I need one I may have to let this guide my decision making on which model to get.
*NOTE: The card shown above which fits in the T-Loc is the same size as a credit card, so make sure you get the correct size (some ID cards are different).
