Custom Rad grill

So I was aske to build a custom radiator cover for an old home in Toronto. The first image is what the client found on the web and the second image is my first of two grills. Made of solid maple, no plywood, 6' long, 26.5" high and glued up with 91 dominos. I sanded down #4 dominos to give me a bit of wiggle room when glueing up the vertical bars in the grid. Now on to the second one.
This will be painted white.

Finally got one assembled and primed. Ready now to spray the 2 coats of paint.

Glue ups like that can be trickier than they appear. Looking very nice, lucky client.

I always buy rough lumber. This was done using maple.

Patience for sure. Each vertical was anchored with dominos and glued. Then waited 30 minutes and glued on the small cubes, waited another 30 minutes to glue another vertical and so on and so on. Second one of these is almost ready for spray booth.

For the top I joined 3 - 5" wide boards which were ripped with my track saw to create the glue joint. Spent quite a bit of time making sure the blade was at 90 degrees to the material. For the rest, I have an old table top Delta jointer that still works fine for any pieces that are 3' or less in length. Once I got a straight edge, I would then run through my table saw that has an FS Tool ripping blade to get the other edge parallel. Great blade. Then run everything through the planer to get the desired 3/4" thick. All boards were joined with dominos.
