Customized T-Loc Handles (3D Printed)

The cleats are brilliant! Opens up a number of possibilities for cutting/clamping surfaces on the go.

Awesome job, Ben - you just need to add the UK to the list of available countries...  [poke]

[big grin]

I'm trying to decide what I could do to identify accessories (like abrasives?) versus the tool itself.

When you get a chance, I'd like to see a label that is GREEN on BLACK - opposite of the black on green you've already done - for use as a way to identify an accessory T-LOC systainer. For instance, how about making one that says '150mm' that would go on my abrasive/accessory systainer for my RO150 and ETS150/3?

Ben

Great idea, but I have to agree with Wow, I think the green on black would be slick and be a great way for distinguishing between the tools and accessories.  For example, I would like green with black writing for domino (DF500) and then for my 2 systainers black with green indicating Sipo and Beech.  Just my  [2cents]

This is the printer I am using.  (It is my own version of the RepRap Air, and is open source if you want to download the plans) It has a single extruder, so I am printing the faceplates in green, and then using a chisel tip paint pen to add the contrasting color in enamel. There is also a festool hose adaptor I made a while ago available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:268760

@WOW
I'll definitely test out the green on black.  I have more black, green and red filament on the way.

@jonny round boy
Once I get the shipping down for the USA and Canada, I'll add the rest of the world.

@ jbair
The printed dominos sound really useful / possible. I'll get my hands on some, and try it out.

time to start printing. Thanks to everyone for their feedback and orders at the Etsy shop.

Ben,

Interesting looking beast.  It's great to see quality output on a (apparently) simple machine like.

I'm going to wait until I seen the black on green and then order.

Thanks,

Dan.

Images of green text on black to denote accessories. Great idea!

I'll add them to the Etsy store tonight.

Hi Ben,

  Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Killer first topic and idea!  [thumbs up]

Ben

The black with green writing looks sharp.  That will definitely be a great way to distinguish between the tool and accessories.

Correct me if I am wrong, but when we go to your store, in the notes to seller, that is where we list the tools/lables we want?  Since they are all custom, can we put something specific, like I have a systainer for my MFT which keeps my clamps, dogs and other things, so can I put MFT on one and when my order comes up, it will be printed.

Thanks
Bryan

Love the green letters with the black background. I thought I had been the first to suggest it but Wayne was ahead of me by a few posts!!  ;)

Great job Ben. Will let things die down a bit for you and will get my order in soon.

Cheers. Bryan.

Not to sidetrack this thread but I have been following this with interest, what a great example of the power of desktop design/manufacturing along with market research/ marketing (posting on the FOG with photos) and sales/fulfillment (Etsy). From initial post, thru customer feedback, to taking/shipping orders in a few days.

I will risk stating that 5 (perhaps 3??) years ago this would not have been possible, or would have required a lot more up front effort and cost. My own little hobby/venture followed a similar trajectory but much more slowly. Congrats Ben on a great idea and execution; hope you have lots of success.

Back on topic - would it make any sense to inset the text +/- 1mm instead of raising it, and using the paint fill the inset voids? Should save a little on materials cost/printing time and might prevent the paint from wearing as easily?

Just my [2cents].

RMW

Richard, thank you for the kind words.

Regarding the inset... I tried it in an initial batch, but was unable to get the printed text to look crisp. A lot of this has to do with the way the printer builds perimeters / infill. Unfortunately, everything wound up looking like bubble letters.

They Etsy shop has been updated to include the green on black faceplates.

Would you please add the first aid white cross on red to the store?

Also, is is possible to get other background colors? I would like to order KTM in black on an orange background.

Julie,

I have 1kg of red filament on the way. The  first aid cross on red should be available in about a week.

I don't have orange filament at the moment, but maybe I can add more colors as this project evolves. I could print white versions to be spray painted.

I agree, the base clips would be useful too. I'll look into printing something similar.

Hi Ben,

I know you've been really busy, but any luck yet with these?

Thanks, Mike A.

Ben this is such an awesome idea!!!
Made these last night... Printed with ABS on my Replicator 2. Will try to use Acetone vapors and smooth the surface out a bit. Find it to rough at the moment. Keep up the fine work!

Very nice...your filament looks to be very close to original Festool green (maybe it's the lighting).
