Hi,

I just noticed I cut into the aluminum frame on my MFT with my TS55.  I wonder if my blade can be repaired.

Anyone else done this ?

I also noticed one of my parallel guides has a small dent on the measuring part of it.  What a bad day !

Mate, we've all done it! You won't have harmed your blade- only your pride!

What makes you think it is damaged? Regular woodworking blade cuts aluminum no problem.

x3 -- the blade really shouldn't have seen any damage at all.  I'm not going to say who, but a certain Festool rep, in a hurry, had accidentally cut his MFT tabletop completely through with a TS75  ::)  Always gotta check that cutting depth!

Happens to the best of us mate.  (which is why we provide replacement parts support!) Unless you physically see something apparently wrong with the blade (chipped / missing tooth), carry on cutting!  That said though, do please sharpen your blades often.  A sharp blade cuts, while a dull blade chips at the material.  Sharp blades last longer :)

Me to and I even cut into the MFT fence as well, see Im special  [smile]

Take heart, The local Festool supplier has cut though their MFT's top and taken a bite out of their frame. I've told them it looks like hell but...
Of course I'm a wimp (a cheap one too) so I cut on 1" extruded foam on my MFT.   [smile]

Luckily carbide tipped blades are what is recommended for cutting aluminum!
My table saw miter gauge has a couple divots.
My worst was when at a Festool class at the headquarters and my partner and I put a nice deep cut into the MFT/3 frame after forgetting to reset the depth of cut!! Made a great impression on the staff. ;)
