Is it possible to cut 8020 using the aluminum blade on a kapex? Sounds scary, dirty and potentially a way to ruin my saw. Anyone attempt to do this? Thanks.

Mark I've cut a fair amount of aluminum on my Kapex.  Mostly thin stock but I've some thicker stuff too.  Be sure to clamp the stock down well, cut slowly and if you're making more than a few cuts use some lube.

same here cut lots aluminum even 1x2 1/8 wall steel tube with the ts 75 steel blade on the kapex

When Brice mentioned lube, I don't know what he uses, but I have used a lube that is / was made by Porter Cable.  It is a wax type product that comes in a tube stick.

thats the stuff but keep in mind that wax sticks on and in everything i dont use it on either one of the kapex's just cut slooowly and you
wont have to pic out ear wax with a q tip [big grin]

Just completed an install where I had to fabricate large sliding glass doors with aluminum frames.  I don't own a kapex, but with the right blade, cutting the aluminum extrusions was a cinch.  It's just getting past the initial worry/freakout about cutting metal on a chopsaw...

Thanks everyone. We'll see. I might try on smaller stuff to test out. I've cut aluminum screen frames on a miter saw and that's definite f64 experience down south when that piece of shrapnel goes flying :-) Can't imagine what would happen if a piece of 8020 got away from me!

Come on, Mark, what would Ansel Adams think of that expression? ;D ;D    I need to remember that adjective used in that context. Too funny.
