In his first post he also asked about specialty blades, which is why I mentioned that I cut the stuff with a track saw with an OEM blade. It seemed to work just fine.

I agree in FT then the 1010 seems like the right small one.
But really any router will do this, it is not magic.

If he already has a router then his specific router may fit the OFA-FSN.
However I would probaby be more inclinded to route it using just a straight edge than a rail and router holder.

Anyhow the gate I made had some inserts using that alloy clad material. It was pretty easy, and the Mrs was pleased. I am still unsure if I like it... But it is a gate though.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your post about Bosch and Mafell routers working on their rails when the poster asked about Festool routers.

I cannot delude him into believing that it cannot be cut with any ol saw or any ol router. Clearly if it was a Bosch Owner group he would be asking about Bosch, and I would be telling him he could cut it with his Festool.

If he has a Bosch then I believe that he should try using that.

Secondly I do not believe he needs a rail system for routing the material. That only adds cost and complexity.

If he needs a router, and wants to buy a Festool, then I concur with your recommendation of the 1010.

thanks for all the info love hearing all sides to the story, i have a big elu router so i will be looking to get a small router or laminate trimmer that i can also use the the fs guide rails as i really like using them with the ts saw and i want to get the most accurate cuts and grooves that i can with out using a cnc, i may be making loads of repeat cuts, so i want to work out a system.
i did wonder weather i could use the ts on a 45 degree bevel with the rail to groove part way through the ACM then fold it as opossed to using a router and groove bit ?? may test on scrap i have.
i will be looking at a more inexpensive small router that could work with the guide rail so maybe a makita could be the go ?
also any tips on running the router down a straight edge would be good, guess i could use the back side of the fs rail's ?

Make sure the routers rotation is going into the rail you are using or it will take you for a ride.

I am sorry I don't have any help for you for a supplier. We have a local graphics company that stocks it because they use it a ton. Maybe try a few sign shop.

thanks guys that is great will have to give it a go ! i am in the uk so will have to see if i can find some blades, as i like the idea of having a specialist blade for the job. I am also using the TSC55 so i am hoping that it wont be to much for the cordless? i will still use an extractor though.
the sharp edges could be an issue maby i can find some sort of flexible U shaped trim that will sit over the edge ?
the festool v grooving tool is £1800 so i wont be getting that, but i have seen that you can get purpose made v groove blades for circ saws so will look into that, it would be awesome to groove it then i can just bend it up. What i would like to make amongst other things is a lot of different shape box's

any links to suppliers in the uk for blades or sheets would be awesome there is a lot of choice in the sheets and it is expensive
