In the absence of a bandsaw or a tablesaw, I used my TS55 with a simple jig to cut tapered legs. The jig helps to hold the legs in place, and keeps the leg stable and level after the first taper has been cut. I made the cuts in two passes- 2" of walnut is pushing the limits of my TS55 and original blade- and cleaned up the surfaces with a #7 jointer plane.
Hope you find it useful, it was a safe, quick and effective method with minimal setup and equipment.
