CXS Charger? Issues

Hey all,

Believe it or not, this is the first real issue I have had in the 4 years of owning my CXS!  It has been a go to driver for nearly that entire time.  I whole heartedly plan on sending it in for assessment/repairs, but as of last week, I have had the following issue:

I plug the charger into the wall.  The light is showing that it is ready to charge.  I install a battery (i have tried both of mine) and the light goes off.  It doesn't blink or anything and then in a little while, red light goes solid.  Battery charger and spare battery have always resided in my systainer, so not sure if it just gave up the ghost or not.

Anyone else see this behaviour?

Cheers.  Bryan.

I have two CXS's, no issues with the drills or chargers. I use them to a point of what some would perceive as abuse for the little guys.

I am not quite to the level that you are Tom, but I do use it a bit and suspect that the charger is faulty... as it does the same for both batteries.  Like I said, there would be no reason from being banged around or dropped or anything of that nature.  Simply sat quiet in its cage until needed.

Allow them out of the cage once in awhile to roam free. They'll love you for it [laughing]

FWIW , I've had a charger from an older T12 drill just stop working one day. Sent it back because they wanted to look at it, an a brand new one arrived in the interim.  So , FT chargers have been known to go.

But , I think it should be noted that in all my years it's the only charger to have ever failed. And this is going back to the 80's when the only game in town was makita. I suspect it's got to do with the electronics, most of those early ones didn't have microprocessors in them.

Thanks for the thoughts gents...

And Tom, you know me well enough that my tools don't sit on the shelves with my snowglobes and Lladros...in this case, the charger is the only one that sits in the cage.  I don't think my CXS has been in the box since I bought it.  Heck, my wife and kids even use it!

Cheers.  Bryan.
