It's going to be a wild ride this year with all of the new tool introductions! We've already seen the introduction of the RO 90 DX sander, Kapex UG mobile miter station, Shinex RAP 150 FE polisher, T-Loc Systainers, and WCR 1000 Workcenter. Next up... the CXS compact cordless drill. If you have any questions (other than pricing  [wink] ), post them here and I'll do my best to answer them for you.

In the coming week or so, I will be launching a new micro site full of information on this new addition to our cordless drill line up. Video, photos, feature walk-around, specifications, etc.

Will it be available with out all the chucks as soon as it's released?

First, there are only three chucks available: the Centrotec chuck, keyless drill chuck and right angle chuck. There will be two versions, a set and non-set. The only difference will be the inclusion of the right angle chuck in the set. Otherwise, the scope of the delivery is identical.

Edit: Not sure what gave the impression that it would be available without any chucks....

It would be silly to buy that drill without the right angle chuck.

That is the only part I really like.

Two versions, as Shane mentioned will be available, with the only difference being the inclusion of the right angle chuck (well worth it).  We used the heck outta the thing in cabinet training last week.  You guys are going to be soooo psyched on the pricing.  Get ready!

Okay, I'm going to continue to play along like I'm interested in anything other than the price. [tongue]  Is this a brushless motor?  Weren't the Cs supposed to be coming out 6/1 as well.  And since you're teasing us with no pricing, I'm going to throw out the dreaded question again, when are we going to get that Centrotec set you keep promising us? [poke] [big grin]

i can tell you (i hope) that the price is 247.20 GBP. i know this is irelivent as the tools cost a lot less in the states than here in europe.

Like Sean said, the CXS will not use a brushless motor. As for the Centrotec Set...  [popcorn] Waiting on Germany for availability. I am confident we will have a North America-specific version based on what I've heard. My hope was to have them in time for the introduction of the CXS. Not sure if that will happen or not. Regarding the C-series Lithium Ion drills, the introduction will be second half of the year.

Ah, well there you go.  It's coming.  I believe some of you have seen it at Festool HQ as well.  It's certainly going to be a welcomed addition.

Will the chucks for the C12 work with the CXS?

Good question. Yes and no. The Centrotec is the same between all models of the drills, so it's compatible, of course. The 1/2" keyless chucks is compatible. The eccentric and right angle chucks from the C/T drills will not work on the CXS.

Edit: I should mention that the keyless chuck and Centrotec chuck can be attached to the right angle chuck on the CXS, just like it's bigger brothers.

Shane isn't the keyless chuck that comes with the CXS 3/8" instead of 1/2"?

Tim, yes it is 3/8, but as Shane said, the 1/2" will fit on there, just not necessarily recommended.
