Hi mac, received one of these today, I've had a little play with it and I'm quite impressed although something that's bothering me is, the hex shaft seems to rotate in a slightly eccentric motion and is amplified with a bit holder in causing say 1-2mm to rotate off centre, does yours rotate perfectly? Maybe I'm being fussy but this is supposed to be the benefit of the centrotec system?....

Dan, I got mine this morning also and have just checked it again, and it rotates dead centre. Does it do this with all the chucks??

Hey guy, it does it with the centrotec chuck also but is harder to notice with the Jacobs chuck, I thought may be the bit holder was bent but I've put the bits directly into the hex shaft and they spin noticeably off centre, gonna have to send it back I think, damn was looking forward to using it this week. Or maybe it's a new feature "offcentrotec"....

i just did a quick vid on my iphone whilst sat on the sofa to try to explain what i mean, its pretty bad but i think you can see what im talking about, IMG 0636

Ummm the ring isn't a major problem but I noticed you aint got your bit in all the way I think well it doesn't look like the little green ring is all the way in

Edited: I'll check if my green release thing wobbles but that ain't the bit what keeps the bits straight only holds them in

Edited again:  I think if you insert your bit in properly  u might find it's okay not sure

jmb, mine is just like yours mate, the thing is if you buy the centrotec wood drill bits they are going spin off centre too, i might be missing the point but isnt this the benefit of a festool drill? my panasonics dont do this. not at least to this extent.

i would have thought the centrotec bits to wobble less, i thought that was part of the reason to have them. Never been a problem mind you.

Them panasonics are really nice drills aren't they, i used 1 while my t15 was being repairsed and really liked it. They also make hilti's cordless drills

Dan, I have just tried my CXS with the centrotec wood bits and its clean and true no problems at all.

Yes its the T15  one of the First T15 in the UK so my LOCAL dealer said who I dont deal with any more! Rexy is my man now lol! Well as soon as it was available at my dealers I got it!

Yes it has a wobble thats y I posted it to show Dan where he stands with his cus they arnt perfect in the first place any way but if his is causing his tip of his bit to wobble ALOT then thats not good but if you look closely at mine that wobbles slightly but at full speed it all kinda straightens out you cant see any wobble only at slow speed.

Dan, my T15 also does it and I think it is inherent to the Centrotec system. I was a bit bothered by it too the first time I noticed this on my brand new drill, but it turned out it's of no consequence. You see, the shaft of a Centrotec drill bit is not exactly the same size as that of a hex bit. It's a tiny bit smaller. So when you put this in the shaft of the drill, it has a minute wobble, which gets amplified more the longer the bit is. But when you actually drill a hole or drive a screw this minute bit of play doesn't matter anymore because the tip of the bit is now fixated by the workpiece.

Well like Dean said never really been a problem its always been like that on mine!  This is my second T15 and the other was just the same. Once the bit spins at full speed it runs true so for wood bits not had any problems.   Well I dont know if your is like mine if you was to send it back you might just get one with the same ''problem''

I dont have another festool drill which I could check!   You want video evidence not peoples word lol!  [smile]
