I need a smallish  but good sounding DAB radio. Not a huge "Ghetto blaster " as its going in clients houses for only me to listen to etc .
The dewalts and makita ones are Nasty and sound even worse !

I cannot believe that someone in Festool who probably is paid a chunk of money thinks a FM radio is what the market requires in 2016 !  so their radio is no good for me .

I fancy either "carving" up a great sony or Roberts DAB  radio and building it into a Systainer .That whay its easier for me to carry and locate and adds a bit of fun.

thanks

I would love to do this, be interesting to hear if anybody has done it before. Im scared of making a balls of £150ish worth of radio and systainer!

I agree with you about festool's new radio  and now that I've seen Dewalt's new radio that fits in with their tool container system I can't deny I'm a little envious...
Come on festool give us a systainer sound system, you already did it with a vacuum and a power splitter...

I purchased the small dewalt DAB. for peanuts from a sale. Took it apart in 5 mins.Sanded it all down and spray  primed etc .Then finished of with a "Myland" (UK paint that is nothing like Farrow and ball !)  Midnight Grey .Which is almost 99% the same a the festool dark grey. Will highlight the Dewalt in the "Bright green" festool .As soon as ai find a small tin et cor a nail varnish etc .

then when i am free, i will strip it all back to the working bits and transfer it to a Systainer .

Looks rather 'trick" !

Can just image the .."Hey Chuck, we got ourselves a Special opps radio"  [tongue]

after being fed up with the terrible sound quality of my makita DAB, im going to be doing this, decided i will be using a systainer 2, pioneer Deh-X8500 Dab Car Stereo, some 4" mid range car speakers and a pc/server power supply, have the same stereo in my van and the sound quality is great, has the amp built in, and bluetooth and the usb port which can be used to charge my phone and head torch, just need to try a few different aerials when all the parts arive, not going to put a extension reel in like most people to just keep it simple really.

Can't wait to see , if festool ever came out with a systainer sound system it would probably take 2 years to reach NA anyhow
I'm ready to build my own as well

... and it'd only play Kraftwerk [big grin]

Festool is releasing a DAB Sysrock in Europe in 2017 - just a heads up...
