I know what happened to the missing First Aid Systainers that motivated the Emergency run!
The first one was shipped to Canada via the USPS. One of the items in the First Aid Systainer is hydrogen peroxide. As it turns out, you can't ship hydrogen peroxide using the postal service. Before I knew this I had shipped others to Canada with no problem, but for whatever reason this one got captured.
I already shipped a replacement via UPS, so when this one come back I will inspect it and make sure it's complete, then offer it for sale. You'll have to wait for that, since I have no idea what condition it will arrive in. Let's hope it's intact?!
And I also know what happened to the second one:
I got back a beat-up, battered, half-of-a-box. The only thing that was left of the label (and half of the lid!) had part of my address on it. Somehow it actually made its way back to me? Yesterday was recycling day for us, and I had generated a LOT of recycling getting everything unboxed and ready to be assembled for the Christmas/Emergency run. It was quite a pile! In cleaning up after me, Mrs. WOW was very efficient and recycled the damaged box and packing material or I would have shown you a picture of what I got back. Let's just say that it was a very creative use of packing tape!
Opening it up revealed this:

That is the only apparent damage. About 25% of the outer ring that holds the lid hinge pin is missing. Or, said another way, there's 75% left. It looks worse in this picture than it will with the pin installed. A LOT worse.
The damage does not affect the ability of the lid to open and close, and I would not worry about using it in a 'normal' environment. I *might* be concerned about using it in a business location where it was opened and closed several times a day. If that's your situation you'll have to decide whether that concerns you or not?
I think the only fair way to establish the value of the damaged systainer is with an auction. So that's what we're gonna do.
The damaged First Aid Systainer will be filled with *BRAND NEW* contents identical to the ones I just shipped. It will look identical as well, except for the minor damage shown above. It will ship insured, and will arrive without any FURTHER damage or I'll refund your money. Also, if you get it and decide that you don't want it, simply return it and, again, I will refund your money. In other words, you have no risk.
Because I won't know where I will be shipping until the auction ends, the auction DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COST OF SHIPPING. The First Aid Systainer can be picked up for free, or shipped to the lower 48 for $25, or to AK, HI, or Canada for $50.
This auction is open to any member of the FOG. If you aren't a member and want to bid, NOW would be a great time to join!
[big grin]
Bids must be posted in this thread. To allow everyone time to think about it and decide if they want to bid, I will let the auction run from now until Tuesday, December 30th at noon Central Time. The forum software will automatically record the time and date of each post. The last bid posted prior to noon on the 30th wins.
There is no minimum opening bid. To paraphrase Mayor Daley of Chicago - "Bid early and Bid Often"!
[wink]
And good luck!
