Dealer deals

Hopefully I will be making my first Festool purchase this week. With no dealer close to me I will be purchasing online around $6000 worth of tools and accessories. After reading this site and looking at different web dealers it's apparent that pricing is set by Festool. Am I correct in thinking that dealers are not allowed to offer their own discounts? Are they allowed to throw in a free Festool accessory or even a non-Festool product?

Festool sets the price in North America, no discounting from dealers, no exceptions.  If you and your dealer are able to work out a good deal on non-Festool items, that's between the two of you, no one else needs to know...

In my eyes, if you drop $6000 at a time, you deserve at least a t shirt or something. If not, I'd find a different dealer.

If your shopping list includes a tool and a vac, you do get 10% off of the vac at most dealers if purchased at the same time. Other than that though, discounts are quite rare--

Enjoy the new tools!

Package deals work different in Canada. Last I knew, it's 5%.

Choose your dealer based on someone who knows the tools, uses the tools, stocks most/all of the products, and will be there to support you. As a consumer, we always want to make sure we're getting the best deal. Festool makes that easy, you're always getting the best deal available. That also protects the resale value of the tools should you upgrade or cash out down the road.

Enjoy your new gear.

Thanks for the correction Shane, my mistake, I was talking about US dealers. Just finished day 1 of training week here in Henderson, my mind was wandering! :)

What are you getting?

I found my expenditure this year at about the same amount, some Festool, and some others.
It does't take too long with the high-end gear to empty a wallet.

Put a zero on the end of that and you'll be approaching what a lot of us have invested in Festool and predominantly all of these purchases will have been full retail.

I'm no saying this to belittle your purchase, simply its a case of premium quality (not just Festool) is more about service and support than bargaining for lowest purchase price.

This is precisely why people will advise you to get to know a dealer (doesn't matter if we're talking local bricks and mortar or online) you want to extend the experience through a dealer relationship you can trust.

You can always shop waving money in you're hand and get something extra .. that's easy, but that also immediately classifies you in the eyes of the retailer.

To me the important thing is what you experience after the $6K spend, you won't be happy if you save $500 and have a miserable experience for the 3 years that follow!!

Hello Hawk15

We are a Canadian Festool dealer and would be more than happy to make sure you are getting what you need and saving the most amount of money possible while doing so.

We are located in Vancouver BC and have free shipping over $150 which I think your order would qualify for but what we are known for is having product in stock and also helping you make the right decisions.

Best Regards

My understanding is that any combination of tool and vac or saw and table is eligible for a 5% discount on each item.

Lol, at this point a t-shirt is looking good.

Yeah, sorry if I wasn't clear about that. I meant it to mean "it's 5% for the discount on the package".  [wink]

Not sure if they do this is Canada, but in America you can usually get a dealer to swap out the TS55 rail for a "holey" rail that will work with the LR32, as they are the same retail price.  This may help save a bit.
