Just a silly question!!! We recently purchased a deltex 93 sander and it works well. Why is the power cord a hardwired cord and not the "typical" detachable Festool cord ? Thank you.

Hi Rick,
Not silly. On all the older tool models, plugs are hard wired. Whenever they get around to updating/grading they switch over to the plug-it ends. ASFAIKA. My planer is hard wired and at least I don't have to worry about leaving it's cord anywhere...

Thanks for the information. We are really enjoying our new Festool systems. The only problem is the buying addiction! We started off with the RO125 and Deltex 93 and have since purchased the circular and jig saws and domino systems. What well made and safe tools. I will never cut another panel on my table saw!

Rick,

We're all still hoping for Plug-It retrofit kits.  ;D ;D I've got the 93 and the older Rotex and would love to upgrade them.  :)

Does anyone know generally where the Festool stores are in Koln, Munchen and Berlin?  I may be going on business to all 3 cities next month and may have a bit of free time (at least in Berlin) to look at Festool's offerings, depending on where they are located relative to myself.  The few dealers in my NE Ohio location don't display or carry much stock, and certainly not Plug-It kits.  Any hints on how I can determine what the wire size (gauge) is?  I, too, have a Deltex 93.  My understanding from dialogue with Festool USA's service personnel is that Deltex 93 does not have as much speed control circuitry within (no tachometer) and thus, maybe, it can be fitted with a Plug-It having the larger wire size.  I generally use only the larger Plug-It cord that came with my TS 55 or 1400 router, no matter what Plug-It equipped Festool machines I am also using, since the larger wire cord fits the smaller amperage tools but not vice versa.

I visted a Festool dealer in Berlin on December 21.  They advertised a large range of Festool products on the internet, but not so many of those were on display. Unfortunately I got there shortly before they closed to begin their employees only Christmas party!  My German was not good enough for the short time that was available.  The man who waited on me did not even know what Kapex was, and still seemed not to know much when I handed him a brochure from the rack in front of us!  He did know how to take my money for a set of metric twist drills I purchased.  Even without Plug-It, I like my Deltex 93, although I wish it had a smaller motor housing and a swivel DC fitting to enable it to fit into tighter spaces.

I like the plug-it cord and sincerely hope that the Deltex gets one before I buy it. I will probably hold off on getting it until it is updated.

Mike,

If you have uses for the Deltex 93 and cannot borrow one, I wouldn't wait for the update or the Plug-It.  I don't find lack of Plug-It for mine to be that big a deal.  I find the stiffness of the 27 mm AS hose much more of an impediment when working on base boards/shoe molding or in other tight quarters.
