The threads are kind of slow today. So, I thought I would start a discussion on your plans to be among the first in-line to buy a Kapex when it is finally released in USA.

Have any of you started placing a deposit? Will your dealer accept one?

What are your plans for buying the Kapex (without getting any dealers in trouble)?

Ok. I'll go first.

I approved my wife to climb Mount Baker in Washington state with a guided service. That should deposit an equal amount to my hobby account in July. I'm hoping she also climbs Mount Adams too in August or else I will sell my new Makita LS1013F (already have a buyer) to cover the difference. It's great to be married to someone who appreciates good gear, even if it is outdoor gear.

Last year, after some lengthy "discussion", my wife and I came to an agreement. I will turn over to her a copy of the invoice for every tool purchase I make, and she gets to spend an equal amount on anything of her choosing (usually clothing).

The downside is that my tools and equipment cost me twice as much as before.

The upsides are that the more I spend, the happier she is, and that I get to hang out with one of the best dressed women in town.

Bring on the Kapex!  ;)

Who would have thought that building a Festool collection would inspire husbands to compromise with their wives and improve their marriages.
She's very patient as long as it's 50-50. The Kapex will be worth a lot of brownie points. Much better to negotiate up front than it is to apologize later.

what you need to do is make up receipts on the computer using word, make them look official and for much lower prices and you will save money and still make your wife happy.  so for the kapex make one for 750.  the difference you save over one for 1500 you could buy another festool!

Don't get me wrong if it works for you. My wife is too smart and never forgets anything.
I enjoy my new Festools, but I don't share meals with them and I don't sleep with them.

I don't either, but if I start messing with the invoices and get caught, that might be my only option.  :)

Only a truly enlightened man would be able to turn a passion for tools into an opportunity to improve his marriage. And then there are those like me, who are simply afraid of their wives.  ;)

I am sorry alg and joraft but you both must leave the board. As a TRUE Festoolian knows you do sleep with your tools and are much the happier for having done so.  ;) :D ;D :o ::) Fred

I think fear, respect and love are neighbors to good health and safety (castration whether by tool or spurned spouce).

I bet Jerry Work can build a bed big enough for a true Festoolian's horde (or is that a harem).... hey it's Friday. And it's time for a commute home. Have a good weekend. Time to use the tools and acknowledge the wife :)
