Silly question...not really a problem, just a question.

Does the depth limiter device normally come with the rustic planing heads?

I have an undulating head that I bought several years ago (~2014) for a specific project that ended up being cancelled.  So the item remained unopened in its little plastic canister until last night when I got it out to prep for an upcoming need.  No limiter was in there.

I don't even remember who I ordered this thing from it's been so long ago.

I tinkered with the head anyway, being careful not to twist the depth handle in the process and it worked beautifully, but I don't want to press my luck and wreck my planer or a $200 head.

So, is this a separate piece that I need to purchase?  I didn't find it listed as an accessory or on any of the Ekat pages.  A part number would be appreciated if so.

From the manual cartoon, it looks like it is just a little chunk of stamped sheet metal.  I wouldn't think it would be expensive, but not much surprises me anymore.  I guess I can make one if I knew what it the measurements were supposed to be and how it fits.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Do you have the part number from the diagram?

Seth,

Nope.  I do have that piece.

Amazon to the rescue for a photo, it looks like this:

THANKS!

It should have come with the head...
It is meant to protect you from cutting into the planer itself/front sled with the thicker planet head.
But in theory you should be able to make your own when the planet is built in and gauge the thickness you might need to prevent the issue mentioned above.

Thanks guys.  Now that I know what it looks like and with a couple dimensions it will be easy to improvise one.

No hurries, please.

Probably a rare occurrence to be shorted something like this.  It happens.

Hi Steve,

Dug one out and stuck calipers on it. Photos should say it all apart from the nob which is a M6x10mm with an o-ring to stop it from running away. Oh, and with the thing fitted the max possible depth it'll let you go to is 0.7mm and there's easily 2-3mm clearance between the blade tip and the housing even when set at that.

Edit: I did rotate the images but the forum is ignoring that [crying] Maybe best to download them and your computer will fair better and save you putting your neck out.
