Hello Folks,

I made this desk for my daughter. The Cabinets are made from Hevea brasiliensis, the desktop-, door- and drawerframes are made from Alnus. The Plate inside the frame is MDF with imitation leather glued on. Both Cabinets has the same optic, but the left side is a door with the computer behind. The right one are drawers, the lower one is for files. There are also little drawers beside the keyboard drawer.

Beautiful work!!!  I am sure she will treasure it forever.  I need to do some kind of a workdesk for my daughter also...

Best,

hello folks,

thanks for the applause. This desk took easily more than 100 hours to built. The surface is sanded up to 240 Grid with the Rotex and finally waxed with a mahagoni colored liquid wax. Because of the hardness and weight of the Hevea Wood (I think you will call it 'India Rubber') the desk weights more than 250 lbs.
On that project I found out, that the fence of the Kapex was bent  [scared]. The former pieces I cut wasn't as big as the desktopframe and so the fault didn't show up until this point. So I gave Festool Germany a call and on the next day a parcel service came by to pick up the lady. Two more days later I received the Kapex back with a new fence and perfectly adjusted laser. Perfect warranty pickup - bring home - service!

yep very nice project and excellant woodworking.  go have a beer on me.... well wait a minute you are in germany go have 10! [thumbs up]
