Dewalt DW735 on a foldable stand?

I just finished watching this YouTube video of someone attaching their dewalt planer to a miter stand and thought the idea was interesting.

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried mounting their planer to a foldable miter stand or table saw stand like a Bosch gravity stand. I'd imagine that when not in use the footprint would be quite small.
When I bought my planer I bought the package with the dewalt stand. It is large and awkward to move around and does not store away any smaller in my one car garage.
 
It could work.  I think the one thing you want to be careful with is trying to center the machine weight on the stand brackets.  You might need to bolt a plywood sheet to the stand and attach the planer with some kind of cleat that can lock the planer in place when you fold up the stand.  That’s probably the tricky part. 

I have the Dewalt stand and brackets he showed in that video.  As solid as it appeared, I would not be comfortable with the weight being offset on those brackets.
 
I mounted my tile saw (not a planer but) to a gravity stand and love it.  I dont get the appeal of the stand in the video but to each their own I guess.  A stand without wheels isnt for me.  I like having the ability to wheel my stuff around and setup in seconds.  The outriggers are always the weak point on any stand but if im setting up for a lot of cutting I will brace them up but usually they are good enough for small 1 or two room trim jobs.  I will also say the Dewalt mitersaw stand with wheels is my least favorite out of the ridgid and bosch I have.  I keep threatening to sell it and get another ridgid.   
 
[member=70049]Joelm[/member]  I clamp my Dewalt planer to an old B&D Workmate. Very stable and more then capable of carrying the tool weight. Doesn't take up to much space when stored folded/collapsed. The folding table for my Bosch 10" jobsite table saw would make a nice candidate for a planer stand, folds very flat. (Wow, I think I've had that Workmate since the late 80's)
 
I did have the same dewalt stand and really did not like it so I gave it away a few years ago.

I think the table saw folding stand like the bosch might be the way I go. Workmate sounds good but I'd like something I can bolt the planer to and leave it there. It also needs a smaller footprint when stored.

We just moved to a new house and I'm getting my new shop set up. It us only a single car garage and I need space to park my car during the freezing rain that we get here in the winter. So everything needs to be mobile and take up the least amount of space.

Any other jobsite saw stands out there worth considering?

If you could find the older version of the Ridgid Mitersaw Stand (aka MSUV), it had a large flat table to which you can mount many different tools. Also has large 10 inch wheels which makes it easy going up/down stairs and traversing over rough terrain. And the extendable supports are nice for use with a planer.

I've had mine for over 12 years with my DW708 SCMS mounted on it. Stays in the shop 99.5% of the time but folds down for transport quickly.

You can probably find one on Craig's List, FB Marketplace, or similar sites nearby. I wouldn't want to pay shipping. I have seen these listed for less than $50 many times. I believe they cost over $200 new but it's been too long since I bought mine so not sure on the original selling price.

When I had a 735, I had it on a MSUV at first.  The planer was heavy enough that the MSUV mechanism was finicky to put up or down, and because it was so heavy it was not great to maneuver.  I did eventually buy the Dewalt stand and extension tables.  The footprint of the Dewalt stand was not much more than the MSUV, and because you didn't have to lift the machine to move it; it was easier to wheel around the shop.

I've since upgraded to a Minimax combo machine, so don't have any pictures of the Dewalt on an MSUV anymore; but do have a video of it on the MSUV after I replaced the belt.


And I have a picture of it on the stand (mostly obscured by lumber).

You'll certainly gain better mobility with these miter/table saw folding stands, but the footprint won't be reduced much, if at all compared to the stand Dewalt offers for this planer.  The planer turned on it's side saves some footprint, but the stand has the wheels and frame extending beyond the bottom of the planer when it's folded up and that I believe will make it a wash.  The mobility is your big gain.
 
This is my favorite stand for the money mitersaw stand I like the gravity saw stand my bosch table saw has but the stand is almost twice as much.  The ridgid has served me well.  Its super simple and fast to deploy even with a 12" slider attached to it.  Im not sure which planer you have but if it like a lunchbox style and is shallower than it is tall and space is a premium then I would probably mount it using 2 pieces of plywood one attached to the planer and one to the stand then hinge the plywood together.  So when done you lay the planer down and latch it somehow then when the stand is folded up the planer is vertical and should save you some more floor space. 
 
never mind I see its a 735 now.  I read the post but ignored the title
 
I have the Bosch 4100-10 table saw. I was planning on selling the table saw and keeping the folding table. I’m mounting my Dewalt planer to it, using a sheet of plywood as a table to adjoin the cart to the planer. The planer is very heavy and the Bosch cart is very sturdy.

There doesn't need to be a question; it appeared that alltracman78 was posting an additional stand that seemed to work well with the planer, adding to the knowledgebase of this thread.  That seems sufficient for me, but as with anything, YMMV.

That's great to know. I'll have to add this to the potential list then.
I currently carry mine when I move it. Makes up for lack of a gym membership. But heavy and awkward.
