Dewalt Grabo deal 1/12/2025

Well Lowes regular price has been $249.  My wife bought one for me at Northerntool.com at $229 which was the lowest price I could easily find at the time.  Those prices are bare tool.

Lowes Deal of the Day for August 22 ‘25, Dewalt Grabo $149 bare tool.

I saw this and immediately checked it and headed to my local Lowe’s. Thanks Michael!

The in-store price was $259 and I had to buy it online and do in-store pickup - all while holding the Grabo in my hands, in order to get the right price.

Even with the original motor and small battery the thing runs for a long time. If they do a substantial discount on the old versions could be a very good deal. Still curious why the lift capacity rating on the Grabo is so much higher than the Dewalt version.
I would venture a guess that for Dewalt it is liability avoidance strategy knowing that their tools might make it out onto more construction sites where the max load would be tested. I know the push is for brushless but there are times when things work well enough.

I have yet to need to replace brushes on a drill. Or anything except a vacuum in this century.
Might have done a swap on a used tool back in the day but…
Of course the main appeal of brushless motors is energy efficiency.

Same for me, I have a drawer full of spare brushes that came with tools, but my CT36 is the only tool I can actually remember replacing the brushes on in the last 40 years.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago I picked up 2 of the regular Grabos each with 2 batteries and 2 of the standard size plates PLUS 2 extra batteries and an extra charger for $150 from FB marketplace. He had them listed for $120 each I believe. Was a seller that I’ve bought from a couple times before in Allentown, PA. I just offered that as a super lowball as a joke and said I’d pay shipping. He said sure !! I was positive they were ripoff Chinese junk!! Got them, tried them out, registered them and they work perfectly. (Offering to pay for shipping and sending out labels persuades people to make the deal bc it’s so easy). Ending Note: I randomly saw this post and checked my Lowe’s app and sure enough, the deal of the day was there. Scooped up two at $159 after arguing with the mgr for 10 min at the register. Finally told him I’ll just buy it on my app and walk these over to the order desk myself. He grumbled and pulled out his mgr card to do the discount. Thank you very much!

The only tools I’ve ever had to replace brushes on are anything that came from ReStore. I’m assuming they came from contractor work bc they were too busy to bother with it and just bought new ones that day.

Don't know how expensive the originals are there if you can get them Paul, but there's plenty on Ebay in Germany, Oz and China dirt cheap:

There are likely after-market brushes that will work. Thanks for finding that! I might bug a friend to bring a set back from Europe when his contract ends

I bought a cheap set to check my dead CT36 with as the branded ones are around $120 from memory, for $15 or so off Ebay I found they work a treat!
