I have a Dewalt DW716 (12" dual bevel) mitre saw and a CT36 extractor. Curious if I can plug the Dewalt in to the CT36 and use the auto start feature. I have a tried it and it works perfect but wondering if it may cause damage to the CT36 circuitry as I don't know if the Dewalt is a "soft start" motor..

I'm sure Im not the only one who has wondered this..,

Anyone doing this with long term success??

PS; yes I want a Kapex but wow are they ever expensive..

I am not sure what Festool says is supposed to work, but I have plugged every tool you can imagine into  my CT 36 and most without soft start. I think mine is 6 years old and the CT 36 still works perfectly.

I just used my Hitachi 12" sliding compound miter saw with my ct26 the other days.  It worked perfectly.  I had no idea there could be a problem, so I will be watching this thread.

I have not pulled apart the vacuum like the Canadian Youtube fellow...
But a volt meter would show give you some insight...

"Off" disables the plug
"Manual" enables the plug
"Auto" enables the plug.

I believe that auto must then look at whether there is current flowing to start of stop the vacuum. Pretty much like a GFI/RCD does. So effectively it is like plugging it into an extension cord.
There was a thread in the last couple of weeks where FT said that their vacuums work with all Festool tools.

I would not concern myself with the nuance of the circuits in this case.
