I am building a dining table for my son. First time I have made a table like this. The table top is walnut with oak trim and the apron is walnut with oak inlay. The legs are Red oak that I have made from reclaimed barn floor joists 3x3x36. He wanted the table to be 36 inches tall so he can use stools and wanted the apron to be 3 inches. The table top is 42x62 and I have a 18 inch extension that makes it 80 inches long. I am at the point of preparing to assemble/attach the apron and legs. I have not found a bracket I like that I can use to attach the legs to the apron. What do you guys use?

Also, I am considering 4-5 coats of Arm R Seal satin as the oil/finish. Have any of you used product? Were you happy with the the look?

Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions.

My go to arrangement is to fit the legs inset to the apron ( presume the top is square) and have a cleat at 45 degrees across the sides of the aprons. The leg is attached with lag screws into the leg and nuts and washers on the inside of the cleat. It makes it very easy to disassemble and move

Hope this helps

Sounds like both of these are similar and would work. I was not sure if the extra long legs needed some  different connection to keep them secure to the apron. I could not tell from the picture from the link if the edge of the leg was shaved where the bracket connects with the lag bolt and leg. Seems like it would be difficult to drill into the edge of the leg like that.

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate the help.
