Do I need to upgrade tool connectors with a hose upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade from an older 27mm to 36mm new style hose. As I'm told that will help me collect more chips, but I'm worried about the compatibility with my tools.

I have an older TS 75 that doesn't have this connector:

I've got a few other tools with older style connectors as well such as a ETS EC 125/3 EQ-Plus.

My questions are:

- Do I need that connector? Can I buy an upgrade kit for it somewhere? I've not been able to figure out exactly what to call it.

Awesome. Thanks for the fast reply! So it sounds like the new style tool connectors aren't needed. Would there be a benefit to "upgrading" to them? Is that possible even?

It looks like the TS75 one allows you to lock in a cord angle which I could see being useful.

Ok, so you have an early TS 75 where the dust port always rotates. There is a smooth dust port that locks in place, which I think it came out about the same time as the dust bag. Not sure you can still buy this smooth dust port as a piece part.

Ad Edit: Festool item no. 10015824 is the smooth dust port with ratchet mechanism.

I put the newer connector onto both my TS75 and TS55 for a couple of reasons. One so the darn things would stop rotating as much. Well that didn't work that great, as they rotate way to easily. Some folks put tape on them to make them less rotatable. Secondly so I can remove the port from the TS75 for storing the saw mounted to the CMS module in a bin. I wouldn't put one on to stop the hose from rotating. Instead just learn to wrap the hose around your arm, or put it over your shoulder. Hose ends work with old and new fittings without any issues, and vice versa.
