Do Systainers have any resale value?

I looked on eBay and didn't find any at all.
Is that because there is no market for them, or because they are so loved no one wants to part with one?

I just don't have room for them.  I have sold a bunch of Dewalt containers on ebay, and the systainers are way nicer than them.

Honestly, they have no resale value at all. But I will be glad to take them off your hands and will even pay the postage.  ;) ;D

Double postage?  They only have no value if you don't have any use for them.  I do.  Although I am just a hobbyist working at home, I find them handy for storing my Festools together with the most used accessories and supplies.  So I can grab a couple of them and take them to whatever wherever I am working on my old house.  I also load hand tools I expect to need in them.  Easier to carry and more organized than my previous system based on recycled drywall compound buckets.  You can also buy/make inserts for hand tools and fasteners.  They also make handy stools when I need a rest or need to reach just a little higher, or as a temporary work support.

Why don't you identify what you have, post some pics and descriptions in the classifieds section and ask people to contact you if interested?

I'm looking for a few for tool storage, post them and pics in the classifieds sections.

I saw some on Ebay last week.  It was a seller outside of the USA so I don't remember the shipping price.  Keep watching Ebay and maybe some more will pop up for sale.

I saw some on ebay recenlty. I didn't follow the auction to the end but the price where already too close to the offical price to even bother. So yes they do have a resell value  ;D

Here in the Netherlands they are offered a lot online (on www.marktplaats.nl, nobody uses the dutch ebay site), and go usually for about 60% of their retail value.

Bought several myself, one can never have enough of them  :D

Yes, they definitely do have a resale value, at least here in the UK. I follow most of the auctions to try to get a bargain, but they VERY rarely sell for a bargain.

Recently, I've seen quite a few second-hand systainers & sortainers going for significantly more on eBay than I can buy them new!!!

There is someone at sawmillcreek.org looking to buy Systainers...check in the free classifieds there. But you are correct, I suspect it's rare for anyone to sell them.

Systainers may be the best kept secret of the Festo family.

If they were reasonably priced (half or less, of what they cost now) I would buy a bunch, and a good friend of mine would outfit his entire painting company with them. They are a contractor's dream IF you can use them exclusively (or near exclusively).

In the mean time We'll keep using stacking plastic storage containers from various big box stores.

So, yes they do have a resale value, but like most Festool products...it's too high. When I have the money I'll do the mass-order from Europe thing.

Toller,

Before you sell those, consider outfitting them with whatever valuable possessions you may own. I've talked with two different customers who suffered shop-destroying fires (and home-destroying as well in one case) and both were able to save a majority of their valuable tools that were in systainers. I thought the 1st call was an odd one but the second one convinced me of their usefulness when it comes to moving goods.

They may be the cheapest insurance policy you'll ever buy. Of course, I don't advocate putting yourself at risk to save anything from a dangerous situation but if you knew you had time to grab one portable box (or wheel out one hand-truck's collection of items), wouldn't you love knowing you could?

Just a thought.

All I have to say is, they do here!  Just put them up on the classified section and see how long they last...            :o
