Does anyone have a vac with a hose garage intact?

I'm so glad to see this post. I have spoken with Shane and Tyler about it already. Tyler is gonna get this resolved with festool Directly.  THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!
Each day that goes by gets me more irritated, having 5 festool vacs.  All broken garages.

I hope you mean Festool is going to fix the issue with the plastic, and not just your broken vacs.

SRSemenza, thanks for checking on that part number 496237. Yes, EKAT does show that as the correct part for the CT 36. I was going by the images I see online for that part, which is the picture for the older hose garage as far as I can tell. I will check with the local dealer, thanks. Or maybe I won't and will wait until Festool makes an unbreakable hose garage.  [wink]

I just purchase a used CT 26E vacuum and the hose garage plastics have broken without any provocation at all.  First thing, it snapped of in my hand when I attempted to roll it by grabbing the plastic edge.  The plastic looks like it is made of Baklite plastic and is thin and brittle.  This should have been covered by a product notice and recall by Festool.

When ordering a new garage, the replacement is described as such: Replacement T-LOC hose garage for Festool CT 26, CT 36 and CT 48 dust extractors. New improved 2018 model with improved reinforcement from two main points – new structural design and an upgraded ABS thermoplastic.

For a tool that cost over $700.00, Festools have lost some the shine for me.  Otherwise, the extractor works very well

I have the CT26 still intact but I don't move it around a lot. How does the cracking happen? Is it from moving around from job site to job site or when you store and remove the hose? When I first got it unit I thought that it seemed a little tight to remove the hose from the garage.

My several-year-old CT26 sits on a cart in the garage and is only moved when I empty the bag.  Mine garage broke by grasping the lip front lip of it and pulling the vacuum towards me so I could access the latches and remove the bag.  It was a simple pull, nothing out of the ordinary (IMO).  The plastic got brittle over time and all it took was a simple pressure on that particular spot.

My several-year-old Midi garage busted after tumbling down 2 carpeted steps.  This vacuum was dragged all over the place throughout the house.  Again, the plastic became brittle over time and it didn't take much for it to bust.

I bought a new garage for the Midi, but it didn't fit.  Festool sent me an updated version along with another part to ensure it fit.  This part feels much more robust.  I'm very thankful for the level of service I received from Festool.

My second hose garage has died. It bit me in the finger when it went.

That will not happen again.

I really like my festool vac, I think the new hoses are brillliant, as is the new remote, but the hose garage...

The hose garage on my CTL-26 is also broken now, where it connects to the vac and the front right corner.

Part 204040 is the newer one for T-locs it seems. But that makes it harder to stack classic Systainer on it as you would need to apply four latches instead of two.

Next time I am making Epoxy I'll try to glue up the old garage with glassfibre.

I noticed that the garage that is part of my CT36 AC is universal. Too bad there isn't a similar one for the older vacs.

Long time hobbyist (Dust Collectors stay in shop/in place).
Hose garages for CT33 and CT26 intact and unbroken. [smile]

I replaced the one on my CT26.  Hans is right about using ABS glue, dont work. Best to just get a new one.

RIP. I tried to pull the extractor by grabbing is by the hose garage. The three corners that were still intact all failed at the same time.

I guess I'm gonna buy that newer one.

Wow, I never knew that this was an issue.
My personal CT26 is just as good as it was on day one. I did make a top plate for it from 3/4" MDF. That was just to give it a flat surface for setting the TS55, while in use.
However, the one that belongs to the company, which gets taken out into the field, has one of the tabs for the cord wrap broken on it. The hose garage is fine, but it is almost always connected to a Systainer with an RO150.

Yeah if you have a Systainer on top of it, it limits the ways you can grab the hose garage. But maybe the front party would suffer more..

The recessed handle of the CTL22 combined with the later separately added hose garage definitely made for a better surface for TS55 parking compared to CTL26.

My CT 22 still has the original hose garage on it (11 years later), but the 9-year-old CT Mini just got its first replacement hose garage after the original one just kept crumbling off.  The CT 22 stays in the shop with its boom arm attached, but the CT Mini travels to job sites as needed.

Yeah same, sorta. The CTL22 hose garage is still intact. But that vac is parked underneath a CS 50

If need to lug the vac around unsecured, one will probably be better off with a garage-less design like the CT HD series were or the CT15 is.

Not sure these were sold in US, but for European folks it may be worth it to get the HD parts from eKAT instead of just getting another garage...

Mine is fine, but is a shop thing and I would not consider grabbing the vac by the garage with any kind of force. When I need to lift it will always grab it by the handle automatically ... the CT 36 gets pretty heavy when filled even 50% so not surprised the garage gets broken if raised by it.

Feedback for new vacs to reduce issues with garages being broken:
How about the front of the new CT garage or vac body to include a designed-in reinforced handle the vac can be grabbed by even when fully loaded, with systainers atop etc.?
