Does Festool employ a one-time accessory philosophy?

i have recently decided to add to my Festool system.  Two items that I considered in the past have been discontinued.  The 201311 MFT Clamping set and the 201312 Centrotec drilling set.  Perhaps the clamping set didn't sell well, but I can purchase all the items either from Festool or Lee Valley.

I am perplexed over discontinuing the Centrotec drill set. Unless I am overlooking something, I cannot find the Centrotec bits on the USA site. Is there a set that supercedes this set, or did it just not sell well enough to continue production?  Is the a third party high quality set of bits that fit the Centrotec chuck?

I've thought the same about Festool accessories.  Really, what is the strategy.

One thing to help with Centrotec to get you up and running with bits you already have or can readily get is the Snappy Centrotec (shaft) to ball-detent hex bit adaptor.  It helped me decide against returning my new Festool drill.

I purchased this Centrotec compatible set directly from Snappy.  I find that it fills a lot of everyday needs with my Festool drill.  It would be great to have while waiting for the Centrotec Drilling Set to come back (if it does).  This is good to have in addition to the Centrotec Set....very little redundancy between the two.

I believe the Cabinet Makers Set is what you would be looking for.  Snappy item #93572.  I don't think it is as complete though.  Here is a link to Snappy's website which shows all of the Centrotec compatible stuff.

I did not order by part number.  I see that Travis has already posted a link to Snappy's Centrotec products.  As you can see there are a few kits in their catalog, but none complete.  I called the company and asked if they would make up a kit for me containing all their Centrotec bits in a pouch.  They were very happy to do so.  By the way, all are bits Imperial.

As you can see, though, I did not choose the Phillips and square driver bits on the bottom row of the 48025 in the picture that Jim posted.  I have those in my Festool Drilling Set.

I purchased the SYS-MFT-FX set with my first MFT.  I think it definitely makes the table far more useful, and having it all together helps with the "system" approach, and makes it more likely people will get the several components that make the tools easier to use.  I find it definitely improved the comfort of my RO125.  I bought a Domino since then, but find the ends of the clamping elements to be quite as well.

I bought a Seneca hold down plate + Kreg Automaxx clamp for use with the domino; but the regular quick clamps included in the set are certainly an acceptable hold-down as well.

I've used the SYS-MFT-FX far more than the fence, rail, and stops included with the MFT "set", even though I do have a track saw.

I don't think that Festool uses a one-time philosophy.  They tend to offer tidbits of stuff offered elsewhere at times and think that they use it to gauge possible interest.  They tend to be conservative when they order the product in from Germany rather than being stuck with unsold inventory.  I suspect that the wish to have nothing unsold rules over "we can a bunch of these" more often than not and that this could logically lead to some or many wondering if there is a one time tool philosophy.

I for one wish that they would expand their offerings.

Good news; the MFT set (201311) is now back on the new items page. It says available from september, so Festool might have listenend to my post from last january;

Festool 201311 was a limited run. Was a nice set though.

The Bessey set has the same clamps, but w/o the nasty adapter to make them fit the MFT. The low-profile stops aren't in the Bessey set however. I wonder why Festool didn't make it (201311) a permanent article.

Seems Festool #201311 SYS-MFT-FX is becoming rare again. Lots of dealers don't have it in stock anymore and prices increased 30%

Is this thing going out of supply again or just a temporary supply issue?  [huh]

Festool has had a „limited time“ availability philosophy for accessory Systainers as long as I followed the company.
There have been the drill/bit sets, the ratchet sets, the hand-sanding set, the FX set...

So no News for me. It can be a pain if you are looking for something and it is not available. But my guess would be that most people buying accessories like that follow the companion some way and would be able to purchase, when the stuff comes out and is of interest...
