Does Festool sell Granat Net in a Systainer

I just bought an ES 150/5 EQ from an bankrupcy auction, so now I need to find some disks for it.

I can buy the SYS-STF D150 GR-Set, which is a nice set of 6x20 Granat discs in a M 237 systainer. It is so cheap that I get the systainer for free, compared to buying discs in cardboard boxes.

But I have recently discovered the joy of sanding with net, so I would much rather buy a set of Granat Net. The only set I have found is the D150 GR NET-Set in a cardboard box.

Have I overlooked something, or doesn't Granat Net come in systainers?

Back in the summer of 2024, Festool had a special where you would buy the ETS EC 150/3 with that Systainer of GranatNet and a Protection Pad for $675. Some dealers still have stock remaining (I think I posted in the Classified section that Woodcraft of Manchester in Connecticut still had a set a couple weeks ago) and those are available at the set price.

But as far as I've seen, there is no current GranatNet Systainer Set available, just the newly released Granat Set - and it seems that those are very well priced.

Another way would be to contact a Festool Dealer, who could order, if available, the Abrasive Storage insert from the Granat Systainer 578192, put that insert in your correctly sized empty systainer that fits it, and make your own Net Systainer.
I've done things like that with Systainers, you just need a dealer who can look up the part numbers and knows their way around Festools' system.

Contact Chip at Tool Nirvana, formerly Festool Nirvana, he might know the insert number and get you started.
Otherwise, buy an empty systainer and make your own dividers from thin plywood or metal.

Thanks, everyone.

It looks like I have not made it clear enough that I was looking for a price saving by buying a combined set of systainer and net.

I know I can buy systainers and inserts or make my own inserts. But that was not the point of my post.

I think you were pretty clear and easy to understand.

However, that does not change the current situation that Festool does not, in Q1 2025, offer a GranatNet Systainer Set.

I am perfectly happy with being told that such a set does not exist. After all, that was exactly the information that I asked for.

I just can't see how anyone would think it would be helpful to explain to me how I buy an empty Systainer. I have bought plenty of empty Systainers and it has never occurred to me that this was something anyone could need instructions for.

Perhaps you've been at it for decades. However, a lot of people who do come here and participate may be new to woodworking, new to Festool and perhaps do not know about the options available to them. Perhaps you should consider that rather than being trite about others offering alternatives when you called for assistance.

Manchester CT or Pennsylvania?

I have a couple of Systainers that I use for 150mm abrasives; one for Rubin or equivalent and one for mesh. I bought the Systainers  and the 150mm abrasive inserts separately and used points at ToolNut to lower the cost a little as I have had quite a few purchases from them in the last few years.

I've always found storing discs in the systainer really annoying, as unless you reverse every second one the velcro of them sticks to the grit on the pad next to it when you try to get it out.

Plus there is so much wasted space storing them in a systainer, unless you don't maintain much stock of each grit. I buy cartons of 100 of each grit so there's no way it would fit even close to all of them.

I used to feel that way- I have a few of the Abrasive Systainers, yes, you run into some issues with internal space and the discs sticking to each at times.
But, the ability to pop them into a stack or on top of a Vac to go mobile on a job overrules those concerns for me.
And I too have WAY more boxes of abrasives than I can ever store in Systainers unless I went broke buying more systainers… [thumbs up]

Same! At one point FAU was giving a SYS3 sandpaper systainer free with a sander, so I ended up with 3, I gave the inserts to my missus for her kinder, and used the cases to store other tools!;-)

Well, that is basically what my thread is about: Checking if there is an offer where I can get a free systainer for my tools when I am buying net anyway.

I have no idea how that could turn into a discussion of the right way to store sandpaper in a systainer.

That one is easy. For as long as the Systainers dedicated to Abrasive Disc storage have been offered with their unique inserts, there have been Pro buyers for them, and Con buyers who either bought and didn't like them, or were never going to buy them in the first place.
Once you bring up Abrasive systainers in a Thread, all the 'types' yea and nay,  come out to comment.  It's FOG, its what we do... [smile] [smile]

That is not the same but the reverse

Yes to having six stacks of 80x133 sandpaper in a Systainer. No to having only five stack in the Sys3 because they went to a universal inlay for 80x133, Delta 100x150 and D125.

Also... The sandpaper systainers for D150 and D225 don't store the paper horizontal, but vertical. I don't think I would be a fan of that.

I have the Bosch "equivalent" of the Planex. Still need to do something about storing the consumables for that. Having boxes in a cabinet just sucks because they continue to leak abrasive dust. But storing them vertical in a Systainer... I'm sure the stacks would lean over and become a mess.

I have the D150 vertical container and the D125 horizontal container...the horizontal storage is definitely better. The horizontal storage flattens out the discs while the vertical storage lets the sanding discs flop over and curl.

In both cases though, I alternate the sanding discs so that they are stored abrasive side to abrasive side and hook & loop to hook & loop to prevent the discs from sticking together.  [mad]  It takes a few extra minutes initially but actually saves time and makes selecting discs easier.

I'll have to try that. The triangle pads for the RO-90 are the WORST. It is hard to only draw one, and impossible to get a stack of them back into their spot. Some evening when I'm bored I'll flip-flop a stack of them and see if it helps.
