Does the build date of a Festool tool matter?

I was looking at a ETS EC 125 sander at the local dealer.  The useable display had a build date of  4/19.  The stock for sale showed 8/18.  Most display tools also had 8/18.  At least I’m assuming those numbers on the serial number plate are the build dates.  Does this really matter at all?  If the receipt is lost and registration has a glitch does Festool go by that manufacture date?  Just curious since I’m in no rush, I could wait for new inventory for a bit.

It certainly doesn’t effect any warranty, if being sold brand new.
The only time and older tool might be inferior is, if there was an issue with a certain part, and the parts were upgraded on newer released tools but, not older models sitting at a dealers for a while.
If the older tool had a warranty claim, the newer parts would then be fitted.

It’s not something I’d worry about, unless a newer tool was vastly improved, but then it would usually have an updated model number.

I once bought two impact drivers together, they are identical apart from one is over a year older than the other. Both are still going strong and well out of warranty.

The manufacture date does not lessen the warranty period unless you do not have proof of the purchase date.  Without either registering your tool or keeping your receipt to provide proof of purchase date the only way to establish a possible date is the label.

Take a photo of your receipt using your phone.  And register.  Pretty easy to do.

I agree that build date is meaningless (sans on the Kapex KS 120, as of the claimed-to-have different motors depending on when it was built). I would suggest you register the tool to get the extended warranty, in case your dealer dosn't do this for you.
