Hi all,
I recently bought a TS 60K and getting a bit tired of connecting my rails together to make 2400mm+ cuts. I do it often enough that it's annoying but not often enough to splurge on the 3000mm rail. The problem is, in Australia the Festool 3000mm rail is $880 where as the Makita 3000mm rail is $289. I know a lot of people say the tracks are mostly interchangeable but I feel like I've watched every youtube video and read every forum thread and it seems inconclusive or model specific.
I noticed in Peter Millard's video there was some slop with his particular Festool track saw on Makita rails. He mentioned he couldn't tighten the saw enough to the rail which led to wobble. I also read that the adjustment amount on Festool track saws has changed between models where some are more adjustable than others. I'm talking about the clamping pressure the saw can apply to the track so it's snug and has no side ways movement.
Is anyone able to verify any of this? I'd love to bring my saw into a shop and try it but all their rails are in packages and I kinda feel bad asking them to crack one open for me to try.
Thanks!
