Here's a picture of a dolls' house I made for my daughter on her request. It is most of the way done - anything more is a later project. It is sort of open plan, with the top level being a deck, with a surrounding balcony railing yet to come.
The design was actually driven by wanting to practice techniques that I have not tried before, rather than any practicality/functionality. Fortunately my dear daughter doesn't mind. [big grin]
- Circular shape - practising routing a circle, and then using a pattern following bit
- Cantilever Staircase - needed to centre dominoes vertically and horizontally
- Cutouts in plywood to fit, and also arched windows - jigsaw practice
- Roundovers (6mm & 3mm) - practice on the router
- the elevator/lift was made with 4mm dominoes
- the vertical wall also required 4mm dominoes to be centred on the ply, and on the line
Paint colour scheme was chosen by daughter from a selection of my leftover paints, and from the discount samples available at the hardware store. Had to fit the Festool Green in there somewhere, but solid would have been overpowering.
Osmo PolyX Oil was also used - the more I use it, the more I love how easy it is and the results!
Sorry about the white balance on this one...
