I don't own a Domino yet but am getting ready, designing all the furniture I'll build with it.

The largest tenons available are the 10 x 24 x 50 and I wonder how deep the mortise can be made, if I want to go, say 27 mm deep in one member and only 23 mm in the other.  Can I push it to 28 mm deep?

I have a little "tenon crash" going on in my 3D models where aprons join legs, thus my need to know.  When doing this with traditional M&T I just bevel the inside edges of the tenons.  Hey, maybe I just grind off bevels on the dominos.  Say what?

The deep setting is 28. You should be able to stagger depth and get them to miss one another where aprons meet legs.

It can cut 28mm deep except with the 4mm cutter

You can only choose the standard depth settings on the DF 500: 12-15-20-25-28 mm.
See the picture below.

Of course you can vary the depth on the two pieces which need to be joined; 15-25 for a 40 mm long Domino.

It's always possible to grind off some of the Domino tenon. Another possibility is to use some double sided tape to add a shim to the face of the Domino to achieve a shallower mortise.

I gravitate to the easier solution of shortening the Domino tenon.

Good luck on the project and we all appreciate pictures.

There are a few situations where the domino system is complicated, I have used in the past the Mafell duo-dowel tool which has a varied dowel size and adjustable depths which can overcome certain issues caused by domino's

The supplemental manual describes how to create some shims of some sort that let you adjust the depth of the domino mortise to various other depths.

There are pre-made ones available from Woodpeckers for a price.
