Domino 500 RTA connectors in captured cabinet?

I am building some walk-in closets, and will assemble on-site, using the Domino RTA connectors. All is good except that I need some "fixed but relocatable" shelf units in the middle of each section, but may need to be adjusted up/down based upon user's specific needs.

I'm trying to discern if there's a method to allow a shelf to be relocated to a set of 5mm holes (32mm spacing of course), but to be "captured" such that it "draws in" the two side panels during assembly much like the RTA connectors top & bottom panels will "draw in" the same side panels. Since the side panels will be attached (top & bottom), the middle panel must drop in without the benefit of sliding over the RTA connector's "pegs"...

Hope it's not too confusing...

Unfortunately no is the short answer.  I too was looking to do what you are asking about and playing around with my set confirmed it was a no.

That’s a pretty tall order...a 5mm diameter retractable spreading clamp that ultimately is pulled back by a cam? Don’t hold your breath.

We didn't say it was EASY...

if the bottom portion of the mortise was "open" when viewing the underside of the shelf, then the shelf could conceivably "drop down" over the clamp component. not sure how to spread the clamp's wings, however...

A slot from the edge of the shelf to the round cam would allow access.  But the cam (what fits in the round hole) would have to also have a slot.

I haven't played with other KD fasteners so I have no idea if something like this even exists in other product lines.  I know that I have never seen similar in my Ikea assembling days  :P.

Google Hafele rafix connector....forster bit hole on underside of shelf drops onto/locks onto a screw dowel that fits in a 5mm hole
