The domino broke during glue-up (twist). I knew something was wrong with it because when I hammered it into the mortise, I heard a thud.

I'll find and remove any similar dark looking tenons from my supplies.

I have to imagine that's going to be a very unusual event...perhaps that particular Domino had a defect inside of it. They are generally pretty darn stout and straight grained in my experience!

Indeed. Of all the bulk packs of dominoes I have used, this is the first time I had a tenon broken during a glue-up. I fixed it this morning with some drilling and chiselling. I already changed the machine setting and so re-milling them would even take more time.

I suspect that tenon in dark color was from a bad part of the lumber that was milled to make dominoes.

Of the 10k plus of 6mm dominos I have used, very few of them where obviously bad, but it definitely has happened. I've seen a few split in two and a few that were too short. With that kind of volume, it has to happen.
Can you bump it up to an 8mm? That single 6 looks kinda lonely.

I thought about it, but the mating piece isn't thick enough for the 8mm. All other pieces and joints were fine without incidents.
