New guy here. Just got a 500 Domino and am trying it out on a tsble project for the first time. Having a bit of a problem choosing the right domino's for a joint. It is a but joint 2 1/2"  1 3/8".

Should I place 4 8 X 50 mm dominos or 2 10 X 50's? The joint will attach a cross member between the legs about 7" down from the top. The wood is Cherry.

Thanks for any advice.

Either will work. A little harder to be accurate with 4 than 2.

However, if you’re successful, it will improve your skill level and you will feel that you have an enhanced competantcy level. This will lead to you tackling jobs you once considered out of your competantcy level...that’s a good thing. You have to stretch to grow...

So it is a 1 3/8" thick piece butting into a 2 1/2" thick / wide leg?  How wide is the cross piece?

Picture of pieces / joint?

The best response!

Sorry, I was not very clear. The cross piece is 1 3/8" X 2 1/4" and will butt against the leg which is also 1 3/8" thick. I did make a sample joint  from construction lumber using two double 8mm domino's and they lined up pretty good. I was sort of blowen away that I could make that joint so easily.  [big grin]

But since this is a joint to a table leg I am not sure which would be the strongest way to construct the joint.

Thanks

Thanks
So according to the recommended spacing, I should use the 8mm domino's since they are closest to 7mm. And would fit OK.

Thanks for the help.
