Domino DF 700 cross stop question

I have held off purchasing a DF 700 until I had a specific need for it.  In the next several months, I will be building a bed and will need the larger Domino.  After all, one should always plan their projects to justify the purchase of a new Festool  [laughing].

I have the older style DF 500 cross stop and trim stop.  I understand there was a change in the cross stop to enable its use on the DF 700.  I seldom (once that I can think of) use the cross stop but would like to maintain the ability to do so with the DF 700.  Looking at the EKAT system, it looks as if I need P/N 498648  will be needed to upgrade my existing cross stop.  It is unclear if this pricing is per pair or per each.  Is it worth the effort to do this upgrade or, should I just spring for the DF 700 set and live with the duplication?  I am thinking the difference in price would make a significant dent toward the purchase of a Sys-Roll.

Any thoughts are most appreciated.

Hi Steve,

I am in the same position as you -- thinking about the DF700.  I too have the older style Domino.  You have to get the new style cross-stop to work with the DF700 as there was a change.  All the cross-stops with the new DF500 and DF700 are the same now so it only applies to the older style.

Hope this helps.

It depends on how you need to use them. They are still nearly the same, but the new version has the pin stops that can be flipped over for the different heights of the cutter from the base. Where the DF500 stops won't work the same on a DF700 is when you need to register a new mortise location from a previous mortise location. The height of the mortise is different between the two machines. However, if all you are doing is registering off the flat edge of a workpiece, then you could hold off on the new set until you need them.
