Hello Foggers,

Just took out my Domino DF500 Q after 6 months of sitting inside it's systainer and noticed it was leaking grease. Is this normal? Please say yes, as I beleive it's out of warranty and will need to go to service.

Thanks,
JC

Yes.  (you told us to say it - but mine doesn't and it's 5 years old)

Well I guess I'll send it in. This is getting frustrating. I have had 2  ets125 burn out, 1 Kapex and now a leaky domino df500. What is next?

The Kapex has been known to leak grease when sitting idle in some cases, typically one cleans it off and goes about things. Have you cleaned the grease off of your Domino, does the tool continue to leak or does it seem like a one time occurrence due to lack of use perhaps...?

I'd wipe it down and just use it.  Not unusual for a power tool to leak grease if it is not used for awhile.  I've had it happen with PC drills, sanders and routers, and older Makita sanders..  I use my Festool's more frequently so have not had that issue with them.

Not sure if it makes a difference. I keep all my Festool tools in the house, except the Kapex which is too heavy and too big to move. My shop can be very cold, well below freezing point and I don't know about its effect on grease.

I have seen some people reporting grease leak in this forum, but in all my life of woodworking, I have never experienced one single tool grease leak on any of the brands of tools I have owned, whether they are portable or stationary. I use some tools regularly and some just once in a few months or much longer (e.g. the nailer or some of the routers). I am sure my tablesaw will never leak, if grease leak is due to inactivity.
