Hello all

Does anyone know where i can get a domino xl df700 shim so i can use it on 1/2" / 12mm materials.
I have the Seneca adapter for the smaller df500 bits.
Seneca used to sell shims but all they sell now is a imperial thickness kit, I'd rather just one shim for when i use 12mm material (not very often) as you can do 18mm material with an off centre 6mm domino on the df700 without any shims etc.

Thanks

Check the Woodpecker site.

They offered a shim set for the Domino.

Not sure it does what you want, but it is worth a try.

Talk to Ron, I believe you can still just get the plate you need. It might not be listed in the site by itself.

Cheers. Bryan.

Thanks guys.
I shall give Ron a try.
The woodpecker kit was a one time only tool I believe so no longer available.

For what it's worth... I beta tested the imperial kit (I already had both shims) and it works really well. I wrote a thread about it earlier this year on the FOG. The price of the imperial gauge and plate wasn't that bad from what I remember. I actually leave that together in my Systainer all the time ready for action!

Cheers. Bryan.

I am not in my shop but I believe it is the ½" plate.

I can check later or check on their site to get some details.

Cheers. Bryan.

Edit:
Don't know how I missed it on their website before  [embarassed]
It is the 1/2" shim. Still... I don't really need the thickness gauge just the shim.
Thanks :)

Hey everyone,  I just added the shim to our website as a separate item if you don't want the imperial thickness gauge.  The shim eliminates the lower travel limit on the Domino XL fence and can be used to adjust the offset for to whatever thickness you need using a rule or setup blocks.  Alternatively, you can quickly create the proper offset for 1/2" ply by having the shim installed and setting the Domino XL fence offset gauge to "15mm".

It's on our site here:  http://www.senecawoodworking.com/products/1-2-domi-shim

I have one permanently attached to my DF700, it will only come off if I need the additional space that the shim takes up (unlikely).

Many thanks RyWen, Just ordered :)
I was thinking the same Ed Bray  [big grin]

Nice .. You're making keeping the 500 as well as the 700 a real challenge!

I sold the 500 to a friend, I actually find the 700 way more comfy to work with.
I never did like the push power switch on the 500, far prefer the on/off switch and handle of the 700.
I do have fairly big hands so the 500 felt a bit snug and awkward.
